Found Chicken in my Veg Pie
Comments

Oh for God's sake grow up!
Hard done by given the severity of what happened!? You found a bit of chicken in a vegetable pie for crying out loud!
Instead of trying to bring down Asda or claim hundreds in compensation just take a deep breath, try to put your ordeal in perspective with actual injustices and get on with your life.
Thats actually quite an arrogant stance you have there and you obviously have no understanding of what some vegitarians believe.
Would it be any different if a diabetic thought they were getting sugar free drink and ended up having a hyperglycemic attack? Maybe extreme but some people choose not to eat meat and have more than a valid cause for complaint if they eat something which is labeled as veggie that contains meat. Some people are told not to eat meat so just like the diabetics its a medical condition, but you think thats ok?
This isnt just finding a bit of plastic in your food or something thats a bit mouldy its going against the morals that someone holds, or in some extreme cases medical advice.
Medical or moral its more than just "try to put your ordeal in perspective with actual injustices and get on with your life" as you put it, I for one would be more than upset if I had spent years of my life not eating meat to be poisoned with it by something thats supposed to be veggie.
It was obvioulsy a mistake but one that needs to be taken seriously and I am sure it will be by the supermarket.
If you specificaly buy something that doesnt contain something and it has it you have a pretty valid reason for being more than a little cheesed off!

Oh im sorry! i came on here because its the consumer rights board, not for a mouthful from you, how rude and cruel. If you dont like what you read, kindly refrain from posting if its not constructive.
Im a strict vegetarian. i gather from your comment you are completly ignorant of how it feels to consume something you are so inherantly against eating.
Talk about blowing something out of all proportion!
Yes, you're a 'strict' vegetarian! I get it! You don't want to eat meat! But lets not go around wailing about how you've been so badly wronged and hard done by because a vegetarian pie had a bit of chicken in it. Not a razor sharp piece of metal, not a hand-grenade, not a poisonous spider...
You're okay, you'll survive this and come back stronger don't worry!

Or is it just a completely convoluted exaggeration that you feel will bolster your argument?

I don't want to duck the issue, but sometimes I think that supermarkets can have trouble keeping abreast of these sort of issues. It can involve a lot of leg work, and it can be tempting for them to just wing it, with the result that they end up feathering their own nest, so to speak.
Further, putting greater controls in place can lead to a large bill, and folk flying off in all sorts of directions, which can be a fairly heavy yolk for many businesses. For these reasons, I don't think it is wise to egg on the OP, not that I am saying he/she should lay down and take it, but I can't see some huge anti-supermarket plan hatching out of this. I'd be very surprised if the OP managed to get anything other than a refund, and perhaps a poultry amount by way of a good will gesture. this would seem fair. I don't think that it would be possible to pluck a random figure out the ether, and if we were to try the supermarket, could, reasonably so, cry foul.0 -

But the issue is more important than 'shock horror veggie eats lump of chicken'. It is about the quality control processes which ensure that we are eating what we expect to eat having failed in this instance. As such, it should concern us all.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
i know it was chicken because ive not always been vegetarian and no i wasnt walking around asda eating the pie before i paid for it.
I do want an assuarance it wont happen again and for there to be more quality assuarance checks with their products.
Ive heard of morons who used to work in the in a very well known bakewell tart factory and empty out the contents of their noses underneath the cherry that went on the top.
If that's what you want, why not write to Asda head office, tell them what you want and ask them for an assurance it won't happen again and also for an assurance that they will revise their QA processes?0
