Found Chicken in my Veg Pie

Was doing my weekly shop at Asda last week and popped to the bakery as usual to pick up a few of the fresh cheese and onion pasties. The label says 'suitable for vegetarians' (which i am)
However, got home, had the pie at a late evening snack and i nearly choked on what was clearly a piece of chicken. felt sick and repulsed. I spoke to the complaints department and they offered me a refund on the pies. I feel very hard done by given the severity of what happened. I dont have a lot of consumer confidence, so can anyone give me any advice on how to pursue this further.
I spend around £60 per week at asda, was aboslutely revolted

How do you know it was chicken? I would not have the faintest idea what chicken tastes like!Gone ... or have I?0

Isnt it possible the pie was just incorrectly labelled?
I doubt someones looked at the pie and thought "ah ha! i'm going to potentially kill someone with allergies to meat by labelling this as a veggie pie"
While we could argue "but what if......." the OP doesnt seem any more sickened than someone would be should they find a bone in their chicken pie.
Personally i'd take the refund, maybe push for a small goodwill gesture (and by small i mean proportionate to the price of the pies - not hundreds or thousands) but ultimately, i'd just be put off that brand of pies.
I'm just waiting for someone saying "who ate all the pies?" :rotfl:You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
What is it you want from them? An assurance that they will revise their labelling policy? An explanation of how this mix up happened? Just write to them and ask them to explain - they should be able to reassure you that this won't happen again.0

If you had eaten one of the pies while walking round the supermarket you could have complained while you were there. If you don't leap, you'll never know what it is to fly :heartpuls0

I consider myself lucky if I get a bit of chicken in a chicken pie from Asda's. So lord knows how you managed to get a bit of chicken in a veggie product!
As a meat eater I would obviously not have a major problem with this but can understand why you would be upset. I assume you are vegetarian on principal rather than down to allergies - which could be far more serious!!0 -
i know it was chicken because ive not always been vegetarian and no i wasnt walking around asda eating the pie before i paid for it.
I do want an assuarance it wont happen again and for there to be more quality assuarance checks with their products.
Ive heard of morons who used to work in the in a very well known bakewell tart factory and empty out the contents of their noses underneath the cherry that went on the top.0 -

Hard done by given the severity of what happened!? You found a bit of chicken in a vegetable pie for crying out loud!
Instead of trying to bring down Asda or claim hundreds in compensation just take a deep breath, try to put your ordeal in perspective with actual injustices and get on with your life.

Im a strict vegetarian. i gather from your comment you are completly ignorant of how it feels to consume something you are so inherantly against eating.0 -
