Oh ho, I know the "you shouldn't be parking there, it's for the old" speech well.... just because I have long red hair and I dress ....well.... unconventionally; wheelchair and blue badge notwithstanding. *rolls eyes* I have to button my lip or I'd probably tell them to shove it up their bum, or something not as polite.;)

Needing-help I am so very pleased for your friend. Great to get some good news.

My legwarmers arrived a few days ago (ordered online - 4 pairs cost me just under £14), and I think they're going to be a godsend this winter.:D

I hope everyone's keeping warm today - I've been outside long enough to put some washing out, and it's fr-r-r-reezing out there!

ETA NH one of my sticks came from a craft fair - it's coppiced hazel with a natural antler top; the sort of walking stick stalls you get at those events often have a wonderful selection, in many different styles, all individually made. But be warned, they're not cheap!
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Thank you LW your stick sounds amazing! I never thought of craft fairs, I don't mind paying a lot because I will be using one for the rest of my life so I will get my moneys worth. The other option is to take my mum with me to look point out the one I like then sigh at the cost and walk off. I will have it in my hand before I leave the building:rotfl:

Leg warmers sound a great idea hope they keep you warm.

It's a gorgeous day here but freezing I'm fighting the urge to put the heating back on in the hope it will make me move and do some housework to keep warm.

Hope everyone else isn't suffering too much in the cold.

Re the BB debacle... I think this is my personal favourite response:

Random stranger: "But you don't look disabled!"
BB holder: "That's funny, cos you don't look ignorant either!"
    :D;):p

I have to confess to never having applied for a BB yet (have had experience with both my Dad and MIL having them, that's enough for a rant! ;)) mainly cos I've never got the guts and was hoping my latest DLA claim would get me an automatic one...alas, they didn't give me what I'm apparently entitled to, and I should just bite the bullet. But I hate confrontation. And the BB battles just feel like confrontation! :o

In other news, my hip popped out on Thur morning, and altho it went back in virtually straight away, it still fricking hurts! And I can't take the usual anti-inflammatories/tramadol/morphiney things cos the chest infection I have (and the current weather) are kicking my asthma's butt and they would just depress my breathing further... helpful(!) I saw a OOH doc yesterday about it, and she literally was laughing at how much she couldn't help me. Which I knew, pretty much, before going, but you know what it's like...wit's end and all that :o Plus my nurse friend said I needed it documenting, and I guess she had a point. OOHs doc was horrified that I hadn't been sent to an orthopaedic surgeon though, and has recommended it in the report that goes back to my GP...we'll see what comes of that ;)

As well as squeaky joints, my shoulders have now started clicking if I move them. :( On Thursday, I went swimming and both elbows clicked - ouch!

morning all, hope everybody is doing well, gentle hugs to all

lamewolf, i too am a bit unconventional, bright blue hair and dress diff from the "norm" and i often get funny looks at tutted at when im out in town on a hired mobility scooter, and its usually from old dears, they seem to think they should have the monopoly on the scooters

doc has finally taken me off the tramadol, the skin crawling was doing my head in! he has now put me on nefopam 30mg which is totally mashing my head up just now lol as if it wasnt bad enough before, i hope that once my body gets used to them that the mashed feeling goes away

the doc is still waiting the full report from the rheumy :( he hasnt been sent the xray or b/tests results yet

    Brickin' it today.

We're supposed to be having our new doors delivered - some time between 08:00 and 16:00 (very helpful - not!!), and Mr LW's at work.

I get SOOOO VERY SCARED if anyone comes to the house when he's not here. No sign of them yet, and I just feel physically sick.:(

Normally he arranges such things for when he's working from home, but this time we weren't given an option of delivery date - it's "they're coming that day, like it or lump it".:(

Need to get my tail in gear and press on with some housework, but I was feeling so shaky, I knew you guys wouldn't mind me offloading here.:o

Here's hoping you're all having a better day today; keep warm, everyone.

nanamoo, I know what you mean about the looks! I have a wig that's a deep shade of turquoise blue mixed with black, that I sometimes wear when I can't manage to deal with my own hair beyond pinning it out of my way, and the looks... oy.

i tend to keep my hair really short now as its easier for me to manage, just now its a grade 2 buzz cut with a short fringe, that way if im too sore to wash it i can use a cloth and give a quick rub down lol think im gonna get it dyed bright flamingo pink next :D

I just like to have plenty of wig caps and switch about my wigs - I like my hair long most of the time, it suits me better than short, and if I use wigs rather than dye, it's easier, less painful & time-consuming, and less damaging to my actual hair, much though that falls out. :)
