    Hi Jennihen,

having suffered from this I really feel for your son. For me personally overactive was the worst by far. It really was a living nightmare, the tremours, the dreadful sweating, racing heart, severe weight loss, etc. It wasn't picked up for many years until my thyroid totally shut down.

I don't know how old your son is but I hope it helps him to know someone has been through this and come out the other side (I have ) and much though I'd like to say I'm fine now, I have other serious conditons to deal with but not, thankfully an overactive thyroid.

Thanks for those words - I'm so gutted for him. he is suffering at the moment. He is nearly 19 but this first cropped up when he was 12.
He was due to go to football academy at the time, had to leave cadets etc.
He's not in control of his body and a bit scared of going to sleep because of the nightmares he's been having.
Hope the drugs kick in quickly . .
    One life.

Now, that I can identify with, and the poor young man has my total sympathy. Nightmares are the total pits. Hoping for peaceful nights for him.

SingleSue Naproxen will help your joints, its not a pain killer, its a COX II anti-imflamatory, are you taking stomach protection?

While a little better for stomachs COX IIs are still corrosive.

This explains a lot! It did nothing for me. Well, it left me depressed, with minor bruises, a rash and a poorly tummy.

I feel better (I think) after yesterday. I managed to pull a muscle dressing myself.:(

The mind boggles, it really does....how can the information be there at the end of one term and magically disappear from his school record over the summer break?
Either it's kept in paper form and thus not sent, or it's on computer and someone doesn't understand the Data Protection Act so necessary people can't access stuff.

I had a similar problem when I transfered into sixth form - I was at the same school and most of the teachers were even the same but some information wasn't transferred! Luckily the OU has been so much better for me.

It did nothing for me either apart from upset my ulcer, lots of people are prescribed it for pain without being warned what it is or what the affects can be on your digestive system when only a few days on it can have long term affects.

Given that I have long standing stomach issues, (going back to when I was a baby) I'm surprised they gave me Naproxen. Although, I wasn't aware of the issues it can cause until someone told me.

I cant see why cigarette style warnings cant be put on all NSAIDS and that GPs etc. shouldnt be able to prescribe them without stomach protection, today it should be an easy thing to do.

I have loads of imflammation in my stomach, duodenum and my duodenum is scarred, thickend and still has a huge active ulcer caused solely by NSAIDS yet people are still not warned what they can do to you, maybe it was acceptable when I started taking them when written prescriptions were the norm but not today when 99% of prescriptions are computor generated where the computor can flag up the need for stomach protection.

I really didn't know that! And no, I am not taking any stomach protection but then I tend not to take any painkillers (or anti inflamatory) until I really cannot bear the pain any longer or I have completely seized up...I hate pills with a vengeance after having to spend so long taking them for my depression and then breakdown.

Think I need to go back to the doctor and ask her as she didn't say anything about what you have said...she just said try these instead of codeine.

    Thanks for the info Sunnyone.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Hee :) Okay, so I have recently developed the chest infection from hell. I've spent the last two days trying to shake off what I thought was a nasty cold, or at least hold it back enough that I could perform with my choir today. And somehow, I managed it, with lots of Buttercup Syrup, Strepsils, Olbas oil, tissues and Vaseline. I'm so glad I could!

But, I'm coughing green crud like you wouldn't believe as of this morning, and I'm going to the doctor's first thing Monday morning. I will not let this develop into one as bad as last year's, when I was coughing so hard I dislocated my shoulders every time and just couldn't get out to my GP's (and wasn't staying at my registered address, so couldn't ask for a home visit either).
