  • Pets at home! Not the best pet shop in the world but they are online and do free delivery :T

Thanks I will look. I think I use them for puppy pads. My Sascha will not go outside to toilet if its too cold or wet. She's a little prima donna. I have a feeling that I've bought the toy lamb from there but its a small version. Daft me bought it twice lol.

Just looked and its not the one I've used before, the one I used was petplanet. Wish me luck finding a stuffed lamb
I suffer from depression, agoraphobia and panic attacks.

On a good day I can get showered, unfortunately they are few and far between at the moment so you better stand downwind of me. :p

Thanks everyone for their comments....actually writing it down proved to help a fair bit and everytime I feel a little OCD about it, I just read back what I had written and it seems to pull me out of it a little.

I will mention it to the doctor when I go up but it's not as yet taking over my life, just being a bit annoying. I do have times when I get a little wobbly and it appears that this is one of those times, just this time, manifesting itself as obsessions instead of dark thoughts.

I am also hoping that with the new OU course starting, it will do enough to divert my brain into alternative thinking and keep me on the straight and narrow (my brain needs lots of info to be settled, it is when it doesn't have the stimuli, it goes into overdrive about things).

Anyway, have been away for the weekend to my parents static caravan as there was an end of season ball. Great fun was had by all, a few (alcoholic) drinks were drunk and I tripped over my dads foot and beggered up my left knee! Thankfully, due to the alcohol, I didn't feel it until I tried to get out of bed this morning but by goodness does it hurt and by goodness, is it a pain in the bottom as my left leg is my support leg to my weaker (and usually more painful) right side.

Oh well, at least I did it before going up to the doctors...another thing to mention to her on Tuesday - yes I have actually made an appointment to go up! I really don't like going to the doctors, no idea why but I try to avoid it until I really have to and I really have to as I am not happy with my pain relief (codeine)...it makes my head muzzy and that is no good when you have to drive and I have to drive a lot for the boys needs, so I have been going without pain medication because of it.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • Hi Singlesue, I was reading this thread yesterday and remembered my brother saying he had used an online CBT therapy which he found useful.

Not sure which one he used, but found this site with some self help programmes which could be worth a shot.

    http://www.getselfhelp.co.uk/links2.htm

Might give it a go myself sometime! :)

Good luck at the GP and hope you get something sorted to help you.
Just in case you were wondering (some have)..... I'm a woman!

Hey, thanks for posting that, BB. I'll take a look myself. Face-to-face CBT has always been a dismal failure for me, mainly because one of my big issues is trusting other humans - I never yet came across a therapist I'd trust with my darkest secrets! LOL

  • lw Thank you for the card. Much appreciated.
Am v slowly getting better but have been told 6/8 weeks til back to my normal due to the extent of the infection. Had a hideous time in hospital with poor pain management and dismal nursing care so was very glad to get home. Probably discharged myself a bit too early, but at least I felt I could keep my wounds sterile here!
Sister came to stay for a couple of days to nurse me and S/E arriving today for the rest of the week.

'ugs to all of you, but lw gets special 'ugs and an ear scratch *g*
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Okay no stuffed lambs but Sascha is getting some more treats lol. They do fishy ones which are quite hard to find. She has more treats and biscuits than I do.

They have some cool Xmas stuff as well, will be ordering some of that next month. Will get something nice for Diva, she a chocolate lab and she's my brothers and SIL dog. Not quite as spoiled as Sascha but its close:rotfl:

Perhaps ween her off the lamb on to something else?

My Timmy has cardboard boxes stuffed full of treats, plus about twenty kg of normal food, he's only a terrier so eats about 120g of kibble a day :rotfl: it's MSEs fault, so many good deals on dog food I just had to snap them up. The only problem is where to store it all.. God forbid he die soon, apart from the heartbreak I don't know what I'd do with all the dog food!

I'm not sure I can wean her off her lamby lol. When I checked my bed last night there were 2 large treats in it and 3 stuffed toys, her lamby and her 2 small lambs. Just as well I got a double bed. What with Sascha, her toys and treats and Willow the cat theres only just enough room for me:rotfl:

I'm so cold at the moment, I'm wearing gloves indoors. Its supposed to go down to -3 in Ayr tonight. My 7.5 tog quilt so not warm enough.:(

Back from the doctors..and I forgot to mention the obsessions, ah well, will deal with it in my own way.

Anyway the main reason I went up was because the physio has taken it as far as she can and suggested a referral to rheumotology (along with the spinal service also recommending a referral to rheumotoglogy and neurology), so was following that up. The doctor looking at my notes discovered that I had not had any blood tests done since 2002 (told you I didn't like going up there) and strangely enough, the last blood test done was for rheumatoid factor (negative) and then she delved further into my records (right back to 1998) and discovered all the times I had been up for my joints, the x rays etc...so she knows that this is not a new thing and that I have a history of joint problems reaching back many many years.

She did think it a bit of a waste of time referring me for physio without having done blood tests, given my history and was perplexed as to why the other doctor had not done any bloods before referral.

I also asked her about my pain relief and my inability to take codeine, so she has changed that to naproxen 250mg on a trial basis (due to my background asthma as I am able to tolerate ibuprofen), the amitriptyline stays the same as it works for me with no untoward problems.

So back up tomorrow for the full range of blood tests covering virtually everything to can think of....eurgh, doctors twice in two days, something of a complete rarity for me.

Mind you, she didn't read the notes completely...she asked me how my periods were, I had a total hysterectomy in 2001!

  • I saw my GP yesterday, Ive got some horrible little virus so I was going to cancel but I'm glad I didn't. My head was fuzzy so my mum came in with me so I didnt forget stuff.

Not only had the GP received my DLA (she's not my registered doctor so was worried it wouldn't get to her) but she waited til she saw me to discuss it. She also signed me off 'sick' for the next three months which should be long enough for atos to get off their bum and give me a medical, altered my meeds a bit, printed me a copy of the letter the specialist sent AND had already sent it to the community physiatrics nurse as it recommended further treatment for my mental health problems which I'm currently not getting any help with ( she reffered me to the local team before but try fibbed me off) so I'm really pleased.

She's also going to give me a flu jab next time I see her (to review the changes to my meds) but i don't qualify for it exactly so i have to wait until everyone who is entitled comes forward first.

Also, my mum got the keys to our new house on Monday so she's slowly moving us in, but it will be a while before I can move in as it needs to be made safe for me.. It's still massive progress that I was beggining to think wouldn't happen :D
