Trialia,
I'm pleased someone has managed to work out what your various conditions are so that hopefully now you can go onto a better management course.
Sometimes a diagnosis actually starts the process of being able to cope.

Thanks....have tried ankle boots in the past but my feet and ankles are weird and I found them very painful to wear, although you are right, it stops them turning over!
I can put my feet at right angles to my leg both ways...another party trick and probably why they are being so troublesome now.
My foot has turned, Sue, due to a drop foot so I wear a splint to keep it in the right position when walking, to help prevent falls.
Due to the fact that the 'right' position is no longer my foot's position, walking is quite painful, so can sympathise with you.
Have you thought about getting some sort of splint, or strap, though, that will help keep your feet as they should be?
Perhaps have a talk to your physio, if you are seeing one. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
Hehe Trialia......me and eldest have found that when you mention EDS, all you get in return is blank looks or a mumble where they are trying to make out what the blooming hell you are talking about!
Hey there all *waves* just thought I'd poke my head round the door. Trialia wow - a helpful doctor! Those are as rare as hens' teeth; hang onto him/her!
Uh oh, just seen the time - I'd better rush off and get our dins on the go. *hobbles out, rather more swiftly than she came in*If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
That's so good trialia.
I'm posting from my new iPad, my dad bought it for me as a belated graduation present. I know some people are going to give me hell as I've previously said money is tight but I'm very lucky that my dad earns a good wage. Unfortunately he is just not a carer, so I have to live with my mum to help me with my disabilities and as such am pretty broke as she earns a modest wage and subsidises my living expenses greatly.0 -

Eeekk......
Yes I do have a physio, in fact I am seeing her tomorrow morning so might have a word with her about it....I am getting quite a list now!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I'm happy today! I have the new Bon Jovi album!
It was an adventure getting it, though. I went to Morrisons and they only had the normal version but I'd preordered that from Play.com (still hasn't arrived, am sick of them recently) so I went to Asda. Again, only normal. So I had to venture into town. The first parking ticket machine I came across wasn't working, but everyone had been pouring money into it and not realising it spat it out again. I found £5! Then I found £1 in the next machine.
But then the 2 CD version was more expensive at HMV so it made up for it. I also bought a Big Issue.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

FP, I don't see why anyone should give you hell just because your dad chose to give you a present. Enjoy it!:o
Juno, enjoy your music! I just pre-ordered the new Damh the Bard cd, online. (yes I realise no-one's going to know who I'm on about:D). I just hope this one doesn't end up in the car for Mr LW to listen to on the journey to and from work, like the other 5 did!:rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Back from physio, complete with another crutch for the left side in a bid to try to avert some of the pain from my very unstable right wrist, plus this weird soft plastic strip (apparently it is called Thera Band) to try to increase the strength in my ankles and stop them constantly twisting when I am walking.
So, I go from a walking stick for occasional use, to a walking stick for constant use, to an ergonimic grip crutch on one side and finally two ergonomic grip crutches...all in less than a year! The speed my body is falling apart is pretty scary to be honest, it is almost like it is saying "Right, you have sorted everyone else out, now it is my turn to play silly beggers"
The physio has said she has taken it as far as she can, all I can do is keep on with the strengthening exercises to try to maintain some stability in my joints but that there is not going to be a quick fix or amazing recovering, more of a bid to keep holding station (bah humbug!). She is going to write a letter to the GP to recommend a referral to Rheumatology (sp?) which will go nicely with the letter from the spinal service recommending the same (plus they also recommended Neurology)...me thinks I had better make an appointment for the GP to chase it up (brain says I should, heart says begger it, I don't want to cause trouble/admit I am falling apart).
She also says that they should formally look at the possibility of EDS in light of eldest son's diagnosis and because the blame for the problems I am experiencing currently can be firmly laid at the door of my hypermobility....oh and the fact I never listened to my body when younger and just kept going and going and going no matter how much it hurt.
Oh well, I am used to life throwing things at me to deal with and this is just another one of those things....we will adapt to it and deal with it as we always do, as a challenge. We made it! I hope youre right, but there's been some real nastiness on the Disability section lately.
I was a bit zonked yesterday so I didn't really have a chance to see all the fantasmical things it can do yet. I've been needing a shower for a few days but haven't been able to force myself in to it, but I did just now so I'm feeling a lot more revived and refreshed so I think I will see what my iPad can do once I've got dressed.
I just realised Timmy has been all alone downstairs for 4 hours now, oh I feel so guilty for having such a rubbish sleep patternI guess I can make it up to him with lots of cuddles later

Lol if Timmy is anything like my Sascha he will milk it for all he's worth. I'm glad you're enjoying you ipad I quite fancy one but as I already have a laptop there's no chance.I suffer from depression, agoraphobia and panic attacks.
On a good day I can get showered, unfortunately they are few and far between at the moment so you better stand downwind of me.0
