Hi all.
Sorry, I haven't been around much; I hope everyone's as OK as they can be, this chilly Saturday night.:o
Beadle2 Obviously, Soolin speaks a lot of sense in saying to insist on some help from your GP; but if you're looking for tempting ideas, why not pop across to the Old Style board and have a mooch around some of the recipe threads?
Best of luck.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Thanks Lamewolf
it was a breath of fresh air reading your suggestion to try the old style board
its great to know there are people that care
Thanks Soolin
we are off to Diabetic consultant on 4th nov and Dietician on 2nd December these were arranged prior to my thread
They will try again to emphasise the importance of lifesyle changes but as my GP says ultimately it has to come from him so at least GP knows i have tried so hard to help him0 -
Just thought I would pop in to say Hi.
How are things with you and yours, Soolin? Seriously hoping they have improved.
lw hugs to you as always.
I'm battling my way through paperwork for the DLA Appeal. It's almost like a full time job and so tiring! The Glandular Fever earlier in the year has left its mark on me with constantly raw sinuses etc and just to add to the pain party Rheumi thinks I have developed secondary Fibro from it, but at least he feels that will go into remission once I get back to my "normal" health.
Hope everyone here can find some peace and sunshine today.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

I'm in a calm bit at the moment dad seems well but he isn't 'himself' if you know what I mean.
I've chanced booking a short holiday for December, it's an expensive one so I hope Dad will be oK as usually I end up just not going if he gets taken back into hospital.
I'm now deaf in one ear most of the time and it hurts but at least the GP is taking me seriously and doing tests. There was a suggestion that it was a sympathetic deafness due to stress (as my father is deaf) but i think they have realised I'm serious as there is a physical change in my ear. I'm back to GP this week as I've had a letetr saying they need to see me re some recent blood tests where a result has shown a minor issue, and I think I'll ask for a referral to an ENT man then.
my thoughts are still with the rest of you though going through health issues of your own which are must more serious than my minor niggles.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Soolin, your ear problems are real. Just because someone else is perceived as having some worse going on doesn't diminish the significance of your health issues. I hope you get relief soon and get to take the (much needed) holiday. Where you off to?I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0

Well I had my bi-annual night out on my own last night....it was good.
I did try to dance a little (very gently I hasten to add) with the crutch but didn't quite get the hang of it and gave up after half of one song! Friends thought it hysterical though...
I now also have a jazzed up crutch (purely for the dinner dance), as I really didn't want a boring one to go out for a posh night, so I used up some gold foil wrapping paper and just wrapped the metal bits and secured with sellotape! It won't stay on for long as it is a little too err, bright for everyday use but it made it look a little bit special for the night..and cost me nothing (which suits my budget conscious head).
Hope everyone else is ok.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Note to self: Make sure there are supplies of medication both upstairs and downstairs so when woken in the middle of the night with awful pain, the decision whether to risk falling down the stairs to get them is negated.0

A lurker here!
Just thought I'd be brave and introduce myself!
I bring M.E, rheumatoid arthritis and continually dislocating ribs to the cafe!:o
I wanted to comment on all you open university exam takers - I did this several years ago and due to my health I was able to take my exams at home with an invigilator present. This enabled me to have my rests to be taken in bed! This option may be good for you all to look into and use it next year.0
