I have a biomechanics referral!!! Yay!!!!!
They do exist!!! (one of the GPs before I swapped practices informed me that a. there was no way my entire arch collapsed overnight - erm yes, it did and b. there was no such service that could help with RA in the feet/HMS affecting the feet and ankles)
Now I have changed practices, I am dreading what they will be like with the million and one different problems I have, but I was in no state to traipse 3 miles to the old practice anymore.
Must get around to getting my bloods done though. The first thing the new GP wanted was FBC, LFTs and CRP before they even saw me properly. Got the form lurking in my handbag, but there are millions of things I would rather be doing than waiting to be vampired in a giant clinic queue.
Braved the beauty salon for a pedicure last week (which was a seriously weird sensation) as I just couldn't manage looking after my feet anymore. Went so well (and it even eased the pain a little bit), went back today for a manicure. I NEVER let anyone touch my hands, but she didn't hurt me at all. My only niggle is that she cut my fingernails down so very short, but by the look of them, they should grow back quite healthily. I felt positively normal on the way home with glossy, deep red toenails and pale pink fingernails to waft aroundI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
That's sounding really positive Jojo! I have never had either a manicure or a pedicure, though I am tempted by the idea of a fish pedi.
How is everybody? I've been quite busy with work this week so popped on here to see how you were doing and found it really quiet. Hope everyone is OK and just busy too.
I'm enjoying using the Ouch Too forum - http://forum4.aimoo.com/OuchToo
This was set up following the BBC's decision to pull the plug on the Ouch! messageboard which was a fantastic disability resource. My sig here will give you a big hint as to who I am on there.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

The cushions are rubbish, I got one for the cover and tried it out and it just compresses with no support and is no good for even a part time wheelchair user.
The gloves are brillient though, the bast wheelchair gloves Ive ever had, I cant self propel anymore but I find that wheelchair gloves are better than other gloves in my powerchair and the pads help me grip the controller.0 -
Hiya can I join you all please?
Would be nice just to chat about the trivial things of the day with people who would understand why I am knackered now after a trip to the GP and need to rest an hour or two before thinking about going to do tea - which is only heating up soup anyway!
Thanks for the heads up about Halfords, didn't even know they did mobility equipment?!Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!
:money: :money: :money:0 -
I didn't know that either...
And of course you can - you're welcome in here
I'm watching Doctor Who episodes... Tenth, that is. Playing catch-up. I only started watching the show at all when I encountered a certain character and fell completely in love with herso technically, I suppose Eleven is 'my' Doctor. Though if anyone asks that question in that phrasing, I would still say River Song is my Doctor! Because hey, she IS a PhD.
Anyway, curled up on the couch trying to rest and watch - my energy levels are ridiculously low just now. This is helping, since I don't need to get up.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -
Hi TrixieB, welcome.
