Welcome Jodie and sorry to hear of your difficulties..recovery ispossible - just hang in there for now and live for the little things :)
I keep getting really bloated and horrible stomach aches. :( I eat a little bit of food and my stomach swells. Only seems to happen when I eat things like bread or pasta though or cereal bars...weird...my body hates me!

Going to Florida on 29th May. I'm so apprehensive. :(

Florida might really help :)....Also popcorn..or corn full stop....low cal (without anything on top) and you can get a popcorn maker for max £10 off eBay or just put a little popcorn in a wee bit of oil in a microwave tub with the lid on (very important) and blitz for about 3-4 mins = popcorn :)

You can buy popcorn at chinese supermarkets/asian supermarkets and health food stores

Heh. Amitriptyline makes me a zombie unless I taper *very* slowly - and I mean cutting what they usually use as an initial dose into quarters!

FP... I have the flu jab every year, and I still invariably get one strain of flu or another. The perils of living in a city with so many universities, I guess.

Erme... If I recall correctly, with what Jojo has, recovery is not possible. It certainly isn't with what *I* have, which is degenerative!

  • Just a very quick one, JoJo, the ab's I have for cellulitis make me projectile vomit and GP is happ to prescribe an anti-emetic with them. Can you phone your surgery and ask them to give you a script for these?
Very sore and tired here after 200 mile drive yesterday with the last hour whimpering with pain but wanting to get home.
'Ugs to all wot needs them.

oh i am on ab's at the moment for cellulitus.. mine only respond to iv ab's i have to walk around with a drip out of my arm.. but my gp was more than happy to give me some anti sick tablets.. and for the other end if you need them too! - make sure you push if you need them
Ok, ok, i need to go back onto Weightwatchers, lost 7 stone..... 2 back on, this has to change.....Help!!!
  • Sorry Jodie, I forgot to say welcome. I caught this lot early enough that I should get away with one course of ab's. It's oral cellulitis that I get as I have ONJ from Alendronic Acid - the bone protector you have when you are on steroids.
Luckily enough I am already on whiat I fondly call my bung up tablets as my IBS primary sympton is the squits! *g*
Hope your cellulitis clears quickly and completely.

  • Cheers, CWTA - by the way - I knitted my first squares yesterday! It made sense in a way it never did when I was a kid - and I hadn't been taught how to cast off. Did one garter stitch, two stocking stitch, and one - the one I am most proud of, as I've never done it before - in moss stitch. DD took one look, declared she didn't like the texture of moss stitch, but said 'right, I want a scarf for winter' - so thank you! :kisses3:

I thought that Lanzoprazole was supposed to stop me feeling bleurgh. I may well bring up the idea of an anti emetic at my next appointment.

Erme - I am grateful, as Trialia says, though, I do have more than just the one thing - some of them are degenerative, but looking forward to coming out of the depressive episode.

[blushing] I woke up today at 3.15pm. I have NEVER, ever, in my life EVER slept that late before. My bodyclock is so stuffed at the moment!
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Aww bigzippy that must suck, I feel silly for moaning now.

Is there anything they can do to help boost your immune system? For the UTI I suggest cranberry juice, some women swear that it helps so much they don't need anti biotics, I've found that it eases my symptoms and makes it generally less painful when I have to urinate. It's worth a try.
Don't be daft, moan away ;) I don't drop by often anyway, to be fair. :p
"They" can't/won't do anything to help other than refer me to Urologist (done and seen), have the Urology tests (1 down, 2 to go -not looking forward to the cystoscopy), and take the antibiotics they've been handing out like sweets for the last 2 months! I'm drinking cranberry juice, and popping cranberry tablets and multivits and allsorts. It's not peeing that hurts, it's my bladder and kidneys that kill. Makes wearing anything more painful too :o

Btw, I've heard that cranberry can mask the infection by treating the symptoms rather than the infection, so beware of "so much they don't need antibiotics"...not sure where I got that from now, but always worth checking with a doctor when you suspect you have an infection IMO. :)
    [opens DLA decision letter]

Low rate mobility and medium rate care. So the constant pain and inability to keep clean without assistance is a figment of my imagination, then? Meh.

Suppose it's better than nowt, but will speak to the GP to see if they will write a letter confirming this so I can ask for a reconsideration.

    Could be worse.
I was awarded LRM and LRC last year and have finally got my tribunal date (July) through now - the letter for reapplication was March last year, so you can tell how long this has taken to get to this point!

As for the issues with pain and cleanliness, afaik that was more in line with MRC (not commenting on the mobility side of it) - to qualify for the HRC it was my impression that you needed near-enough constant supervision through the night...? I suspect your strongest basis for appeal would be on the mobility side rather than the care side, but I obviously don't know your case! :) Either way, good luck with it all!

I've just enlisted the assistance of my OT (who's just given me bath hoist, perching stool, bed rail and is arranging grab rails :D) to write a letter for the tribunal for me :)

Sounds like you might want to talk to the doc about gluten/wheat intolerance...? Re: the coeliacs thing, be aware that they can't test you for it if you've already cut out gluten. From my experience they do a blood test first and then if there's anything to investigate/confirm they'll think about the scope.

Erme I'm a lady of faith, but nothing short of divine intervention in the form of a miracle will see me recover from what I have either - and while I have faith that it's possible, I'm realistic that it's unlikely to be happening in my case either. :)

 to everyone else. I'm now in the midst of my 7th and 8th (at the same time) infections in 7 weeks. The joys of a sh!te immune system. Hope everyone else's UTIs and otherwise clear up soon!

FWIW, I was last reassessed, complete with medical, in 2005; I'd been on HRM and MRC, and was happy with this; I was flabbergasted (sp?) when I got my letter awarding me HRM and HRC; I never asked for a "raise", and can only assume that it was because when I have to get up during the night (which I always do, several times) I need Mr LW's assistance to actually get out of bed and balanced onto my sticks, plus a very great deal of emotional support due to my frequent nightmares, all of which we just mentioned to the Doctor when she asked about our general routine. Obviously I didn't question the award!:D

Good to see you BZ; wish we could "meet" under pleasanter circumstances than comparing meds and DLA awards!:rotfl:

I'm kind of keeping a low profile - don't want Jojo's Minion thinking I'm any dozier than I am!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Specially after having several Lupie moments this morning (like putting yeast in the water jug instead of the pan of the bread machine)*rolleyes*.

I suspect they do know mine; during the medical I mentioned, the doctor had me lie on my bed (it was a home visit), and she then proceeded to draw all over my legs  and take loads of measurements. No idea what that was all about, and was too !!!!!!-scared to ask!:(
