The (not so old) Crocks Cafe -Part 2

TV man just came, he was lovely, and even though he wasn't supposed to, he sorted out both my bedroom TV and the downstairs one. It needed a booster so I gave him £20 and it's all sorted. Well worth the money.
It makes me so happy to have trashy daytime TV again
However, I feel quite sick/nausea type ill. I'm hoping it's a combination of too much physical exercsion, not enough sleep and a little bit of mild sunstroke. I'm going to try and have a little nap and see if that helps. It's such a nice day I'd like to take Timmy for a walk but without my scooter I need to be feeling at least 90% to go out on crutches, I'm about 60% at the moment.
Still, I am lucky enough to have patio windows so the light is streaming through and making me feel better emotionally, even if my body is a bit odd today.
Trialia - Well done for getting your forms sorted out. I bet it feels good to get it out of the way.0 -
Beadle - fingers crossed for you and thinking of you, also feeling angry on your behalf.
FP - isn't it good when workmen go the extra mile? Happy viewing and feel better soon.
Trialia - let's hope for positive outcomes from those expletive forms.
LW - apologies for my ignorance, are you a dog fosterer? I would so love a dog in the house again but it just isn't practical at the moment. My daughter has a lovely (but dim) Springer female.
SingleSue - from your post, holiday support is limited/non-existent, may things go as well as they can for you.

Good news! My little sister (who has agoraphobia, chronic depression and severe anxiety) just texted me to say she's been granted DLA - LRC and LRM both, when we were hoping just for care!
This will be great for her - no more worrying about meeting her rent each month, because adding in the disability premium on IS, her weekly income will be double what it was before this. I'm so happy she won't be so stressed about money now - that has been one of her major abiding problems with anxiety.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -

My next guest will be Ted, who hates all other dogs, so has to be exercised in the garden (we have a suitable garden, luckily), and later, after that, I have two little Westies coming, one of whom is diabetic, so has to have insulin twice daily. (Mr LW has to administer that, as I'm seriously needle-phobic!)
It's fun; if I'm away, or (hopes it won't happen) hauled off to the hossy, we just let the area manager know, and they make a note that I'm not available for a given time.
It has all the fun of having a dog, without the ties; we'd love a dog of our own, but Mr LW works long hours, so if I was indisposed, there'd be real problems.
I specialise in looking after oldies, or ones with health issues; the first one I ever had to stay was totally blind; another one coming later in the year is, like Cameron the Westie, diabetic. The only proviso is they have to be able to walk sensibly with a mobility scooter, but I've had no problems with that - even the Greyhound I had over Xmas was fine with it!:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I'm a host for a dog-sitting service; it's basically one-to-one care for dogs who would hate going to kennels - they come and stay with someone like me, in the family home, and have a great holiday!:D

That's so interesting, thank you so much for taking the time to post - all the joys of ownership without vet's bills or having to find holiday accom. yourself! I wish this sort of scheme had been around 20 years ago when I had my beloved Holly, an OE Sheepdog. We had fantastic holiday kennels for her; but they were still kennels. We used those when visiting family in Wales and Brum, when we holidayed ourselves we rented cottages in Scotland that took dogs.
(Then when we took her overseas to live, she caught kennel cough at really substandard kennels that we had to use. She recovered but it wasn't nice. )
My daughter's dog wouldn't be suitable for you, she pulls like a train, the silly sausage, and freaks out with a Halti.
Holly was obedience trained to just below Crufts standard, but I wonder if walking to heel with a scooter would have had her practically under your wheels....Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would really like to post in here a bit more if no one minds. Had a few setbacks recently and am feeling very isolated at the moment.0

I don't think anyone would mind, and if they do they can shove off back to their cave
It feels good to share your worries with other people who are going through other things, and personally it makes me feel good if I can help someone either through giving advice, information or just general support.0
