  • Ok so I was fairly good in the interview, but there were people soooooo much better than me so I'm not expecting to go on to the next stage. The next stage is to be a trainee member of staff for a shift. We will be told yay or nay by monday.

I'm in a pretty awful mood now though, things with my mum are really bad and we just had a big argument *sigh* still, she is leaving for a weekend away first thing in the morning so I'll have the house to myself for the weekend. I can't wait until I have my own place.
  • P.S - Thank you for all your well wishes for my interview, it really helped to know that I had people thinking of me.

I'm waiting for the results of a second blood test to confirm hypothyroidism and have already been told at the hospital by a consultant for something else that I should be on thyroxine. (the GP never noticed the blood test result in the first place).

What it is like taking it?

ETA: hope your Dad's better soon

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum. Jojo - I've only been taking thyroxine for 2 weeks and no problems so far, no side effects or anything. Mind you I haven't noticed any improvement in my health either but the doc did say it could take up to 6 weeks to make any difference and I am on a low dose to start with. I had to fight a bit as the doctors kept saying my blood test result was borderline but it was consistently borderline and sometimes the level would increase but then drop back down to borderline. I'm not sure that people appreciate how it can make you feel.

Am having trouble sleeping tonight (hence posting on the forum at stupid o'clock!) but got to be up early as got a fun filled day at the docs today - blood test, appointment with doctor and a smear test - how much fun can a girl cope with!!

Hope everyone is keeping okay, or as okay as we can.:)

That at least is good news, well done on the business front.

    Thanks.

I also got my appointment for a wheelchair assessment which is on wednesday, so that's more positive news.

10 days ago I helped my parents fill in online the form for attendance allowance...this morning, they received the decision!

Dad has been awarded the lower rate AA for 2 years, which is what I expected as his night time needs only consist of mum helping him out of bed a and being awake while he goes to the loo a couple of times a night on average (last night was a bad night....5 times!)

Mum was not particularly happy about claiming, she was ok on the day we filled it in but when they got a letter yesterday saying the DWP were looking at the claim, she got all eeky about it...says she hates being beholden to anyone. I basically said to her that the form was filled in truthfully, nothing was exagerated nor done on his worse day (in fact, we completely forgot to mention his sight or fatigue issues, so it was actually better than he really is!), so she really had nothing to worry about. I also said that if dad was turned down, if she was that uncomfortable with it, then not to bother appealing.

She was still not happy this morning when they received the letter but dad was quietly pleased...he can now afford to get help in to assist mum in the caring duties as she has been run ragged trying to care for dad (and she won't accept help from any of us but she doesn't mind someone being paid to do it) without mum getting into a panic about being able to pay for it.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • Sue - That's fab news!

FP sorry the job didn't work out; very best of luck with the chariot assessment.:o

We trundled off into Newport Pagnell yesterday to get a new backpack for my own chariot (affectionately known as the Wolfmobile):D Got a really nice one, with lots of room, and mega amounts of pockets in, much better than the old (worn-out) one, so I'm pleased with that.

Suspect it may be my birthday present though, as Mr LW offered to pay for it, and I shall be te-twiddly-umpty-one in 10 days time!

Thank you for this post. It really cheered me up. I've been having a really rubbish day or so, nothing serious by any means but quite stressful and exhausting and I had a mini tiny breakdown at dog training and had to go and have a cry in the toilet. I'm feeling much better for it now.. Also the washing is on and the indoor airer is outside with clean clothes drying on it (mum hasnt put up the washing line yet) so that is some errands dealt with. The living room is a mess and I was hoping to blitz it this morning but I didn't have time as I was feeling really physically rough, but I feel ok now so I think it's do-able for this afternoon :T

I just posted about my wheelchair nerves on another thread, I'll copy it here cos I'd like some friendly advice and some of the regulars on this thread might not see it.
