Well my tummy issues are still undiagnosed, now my Consultant has decided to actively ignore the abnormal tests (5 years of consistently high CRP) "well, we'll ignore that", his exact words, and it's conveiniently been decided a positive scan is negative after all (even though they have been happy for a year it was positive). And 2 weeks ago it was discussed with Radiology whether I needed a repeat scan on the strength of the positive result!!
I began to feel the normal tests were outweighing the abnormal but never in my darkest day imagined this would happenHe's ignoring clinical evidence just to suit his agenda- and no I am not paranoid, have you ever heard of a Dr ignoring clinical evidence for any other reason?
So looking for a second opinion now outside my local Hospital, will be hard to travel, never mind the expense (I will have to pay first £30 in any week), but i've found a specialist NHS center in London that looks promising. I crave an unbiased view of my case
The misdiagnosis of IBS is sticking it seems despite evidence, I knew almost local Hospital would not want to disagree with one of their own, of which the Dr involved has been included in reviews of my case
They ignored clinical, proven warning signs a few years ago and are still doing it now. My GP and Rheumy are satisified I was misdiagnosed and I have IBD but because the conventional tests are clear I am being brushed aside by GI- IBD is an illness that can take years and numerous tests to diagnose but i've had just 2 normal along with other normal bloods and that's it it seems. Never mind the abnormal symptoms, CRP and scan which did come back positive. Or several tests that I have not been offered.
In the meantime they are going to scan my gallbladder and liver, and have got some pills to try, 3 I am fine with taking, one I am not, reluctantly I will show willing.0 -

KxMx, I had a similar problem first time I saw a pain management consultant - "we'll just ignore the hypermobility problems, fibromyalgia is why you're in pain" ... except not, because I wouldn't have fibro if it weren't for EDS!Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Oh, FP, good luck! I am lucky in that I work from home, but one day a week I have an hour's bus ride to teach in the community. Access to Work would be a dream for you.
Are you a massive fan of Lush products? I know a few of the regulars over on the No Buying Toiletries thread are. In fact a few would kill for the interview, I bet!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I am a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge fan of Lush but I haven't bought many products in the last year as my mum has multiple chemical sensitivity so badly than anything fragranced is pretty much garanteed to make her ill (plastics, new cars, new furniture etc too) so if I get the job I will have to stay at my dads on the days I work until I get my own place, otherwise she'll be really ill and when she's ill she is a nightmare to be around.
The contract is only 12 hours, and under disability laws they will have to provide me with comfortable seating (no way could I stand up all day, but I think I could stand when talking to customers) and I won't be able to do any of the sweeping etc but I would be suprised if they aren't accomodating because they're all ethical and that jazz.
On my application form I put a photo of me using Dark Angels (black face scrub) and a photo of the paper beads I make out of their packaging. I also used my design skills to make it look fab and quite professional, yet fun.
Let's hope I'm as good in real life as I appear on paper.0 -
I am crossing fingers and also thinking you are a Godsend for Lush PR if you get the job - bang go any accusations of tokenism when you have such an artistic gift. You'll be wearing the beads to interview, I hope!

Thank you everyone for the good wishes for my job interview.
I have a big feeling about the job, but I don't know if it's good or not!
Of course I will be wearing my Lush jewellery for the interview, and I'll use my Lush bag that day, but I think I'll make a new jewellery design specially for it.. I'm not quite sure when I'll have time as I'm swamped with this wedding fair I'm making jewellery for, but I'll squeeze it in somewhere. It's too important not to!
I've also got to pick my interview outfit, they said on the phone that it is 'informal' so I don't need a suit or anything, but I still want to dress to impress, even if it is 'only' looking casual.
The job doesn't involve what I'm trained in, it is a retail job, but I love Lush and I think (if I can actually physically do it) that it is the perfect job for me at this moment in time.
Also, my mum made a very good point, I don't actually need this job for monetary reasons so I should keep reminding myself of that and it should calm my nerves. In fact I don't need a job at all, I want a job because I want to be as normal as possible, I want a job because I will get out and communicate with people, but if I don't get the job my life won't change in any way so if anything else it is a chance for some interview practise.... In practise that type of thinking doesn't really work for me though, I'm still nervous! I think I will be less nervous than any other job though as I feel I know the products quite well, I know Lush quite well and I think I would fit in to their team really easily.0 -
I've never even heard of lush...apart from when people are talking about things that are nice.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I love Lush. I may be mildly addicted to their products. They're my indulgence, since I don't/can't usually wear make-up and don't go out very much - I use Lush stuff instead!
Good luck, FP!
