I went swimming yesterday :jIt was a huge mental battle for me because I hate my body so much I hate even seeing it let alone being almost naked with lots of other people. I didn't really swim but I moved about in the water for a whole hour!
I then went to a local beading group last night and really enjoyed it.
Today my pain is pretty intense but I've managed to make two bracelets for a wedding event that's coming up, I just need the post to come quicker as I still need to put the specific charms on!0 -
FP - well done on the swimming:T
I actually went out today !! Cleaner offered to take me to the supermarket to get a few bits we needed -OH normally does shopping but he put his back out shifting some wood in the garden so now using my spare walking frame -bookends we are........lol
Cleaner drove to the shop and with my walking sticks I managed to go to the aisles where the stuff was I wanted............couldn't have trailed round the whole shop and my word when I got home I knew I'd done it............back and legs aching like mad. Still, I felt it was an achievement. Last time I went out was when foster daughter wheeled me round the local boot fair and I was fast thinking I'd turn into someone who was scared to face the outside world.................but I did it !:T
Pobby - (((((:)))) hugs............not nice having your life turned around by illness.........but you'll get things sorted I'm sure. Think positive............and don't be ashamed of having inheritance........I'd rather have my mum still with us but what she left behind is a great help, especially now.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Pobby, I know things look very bleak for you at the moment, but it will pass and you are quite right to remind yourself that things could be worse.
Just hang in there, get all the help you need from your GP, Consultants and the State and keep accepting the support on offer from your many RL and virtual friends and family. (((hugs)))Murphy was an optimist!!!0 -
Oh Pobby....I'm so sorry to read this news.0

That's me with everything else put back in to perspective. Hugs to all who will accept.
Next week will be interesting for me as I am having my boiler, pipework and radiators replaced on Thursday. My son is off on holiday on Monday .... I didn't dare cancel the appointment though!
With all the disruption, I am so grateful for having a riser-recliner to sleep in downstairs, I'll cope and will have a lovely new system for next winter.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I have always had OCD. Bad in my late teens but back with a force now. On a test, 12 plus is likely you have it. I scored 29.
That coupled with severe depression and anxiety, plus a dash of being agrophobic yesterday cost me my job of the last 11 years. At 62 it is a real blow. Mind you, I have a lot of time off but totally lacking in sympathy. Trying to work out our best options.
So sorry to hear that, I can't think of anything useful to add, but I wanted to post something.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Pobby I'm so sorry about your job. I can sort of understand how you feel - I got chucked out of the Civil Service a decade ago, on both physical and mental health grounds.
I do hope life starts treating you better very soon - and wish I had something more useful to offer than good wishes and posi-vibes.
I just found an on-line OCD test, now, before anyone says anything, I am fully aware this is not a proper diagnostic tool, not like a doctor would offer. However, it said 12+ means probable OCD - I scored 22. So I guess it's something to think about, at the very least. (Still upset with my friend though - that wasn't a nice thing to say to someone, out of the blue). If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I scored 25...but then I knew I was pretty OCD'ish anyway...my ex work colleagues always called me very precise, annoyingly so!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I just got told I have an interview at Lush
- I was worried when applying because it's 15 miles away and 2 hours on a bus (which would by far be the worst and most exhausting part of my working day, people pushing, over crowding, trying to 'walk' down the isle without falling over etc) but last night I realised that I would probably be eligable for the Access to work scheme, so I'm now really excited! My first ever job interview too.
