Contacted ASDA CS Dept today because although I had an autonmated response to email complaint I had not heard any more. Strangely,;);) the complaint had been marked "closed" although the CS advisor could not see why this had been done, as it had clearly not been responded to. So, it has been re opened;) and I am once more awaiting a response.

Another example of good ASDA customer service?

Out of curiosity I checked the distance to my nearest Asda stores.
I have 2 and they are both seven (7) miles away.
    Would you consider that walkable?
If I did walk there, what were the chances there would be stock on the shelves?
If there was stock, I would have a seven mile walk home carrying said champagne.
No buses by the way, nor trains, although I probably could have booked a taxi.
If I had, paid for a return trip - say £20, and no stock on shelf how money saving is that ?
If I had phoned to check stock, what would be the chances of getting an "honest" reply from CS?
Even if they admitted to having stock, what would be the chances of it still being there by the time I had walked 7 miles, or booked a taxi?
What are the chances that CS having their attention drawn to this great deal would have managed to clear the shelves for themselves?

You comment about people not "making the time and effort".....but clearly many have spent hours if not days waiting for promised delivery and phone calls.
You now claim your comments were "to help people in future".
IF so, you could simply have advised readers to not wait 2 to 3 days for a delivery, but to try and get into the store asap.
But you also added comments such as "ordinary people who don't sit all day in front of a computer! " had managed to get the deal in store.
"Easier to click for chance of delivery or a little bit effort to go to store to see what is on shelves."
and "you really need to get a life?"
You also add "In my opinion there is no point blaming asda for oos when delivered as the shelves would already have been picked clean by then!"

I have flicked through the last few pages, and I cannot seem to see any complaints about it being genuinely oos.
But there are lots of posts about
    1) The order being cancelled after it should have been delivered
    2) No champagne or alternative being delivered.
    3) Waiting in for hours/days for phone calls from CS
    4) Being spoken to rudely by CS
    5) Being given lots of differing reasons why they would not be receiving their champagne, eg lowest legal price etc..... NOT that it was oos

By the by, I do not do on-line food shopping with ANY store.
I did not try to order on-line.
I did get up and visited both of my two local stores - but unlike your stores where "there were bottles sitting on shelves in their local Asdas getting picked at £4:95 by ordinary people who don't sit all day in front of a computer!" there was no champagne.
    Am I complaining - NO,
Am I hurling insults - NO
Do I pass comments about other peoples ability to 'mobilise' themselves, or their intellectual capacity - NO.

Hasbeen, You got your 6 bottles of cheap champagne... congratulations.
    Clearly many others did not.
If they want to let off a little frustration about the bad way Asda handled this issue, why shouldn't they ?
You have your champagne, if you don't want to read posts from people who need to "get a life" why are you still reading this thread?

Your comments were rude and uncalled for.
If you were not already aware of that, take this as a gentle motherly hint - you are being rude.

    Hallo tattybonce:wave:

1)So do I - remember the Free Pontins Holiday that is!!,

Out of interest tattybonce, did you read the accounts from all those who had had thoroughly enjoyable holidays this year?
If not you will find them here:-
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2558655
    and also
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2536765

Most people seemed to have a very good time - contrary to your suggestion that because it was FREE it would be terrible!

"Wouldn't go if they paid me I'm afraid. Drove past the welsh one last year whilst on holiday and every single chalet was empty. I was expecting a tumble weed to be blown past at any moment. There must be a reason they are giving these chalets away free as there is no such thing as a free lunch is there? Think about it."

If you have a burning sense of injustice against me re the Free Pontins holiday thread, why have you not posted your comments on there ?

    2) I did bother, getting up from my Pc and going in store, but there were none left.....if you had actually bothered reading my post you may have understood that

    3) What Pension Benefit money ?
How can I claim it ?
I don't think there will be any money left in the Pension Pot by the time I reach retirement age ( they keep moving it ).
And before you start, I have been having pension contributions deducted from my salary for decades:p (and NI and Income Tax). Still no guarantee I will get any pension though.

    4) No, I do not think I am 'always' right.
Quite the opposite actually. More likely to think others know better, and therefore do not speak up and stand my corner.
Usually it it only with the benefit of hindsight that I am proved to be a Wise Old Bag:D
What does stir me to interject is people making sweeping generalisations, rudeness and bad manners.

Just had a phone response to my email compliant re the supposed "no subs" indicator on my order (which was not there) The CS operator confirmed that the store had known that subs were required because if it was on her system, and on my email, it would be on their system, because all the info is the same. So, the store were clearly not being truthful, she has sent my complaint to them and I am to await a call from the store manager.

Hope you have more luck than I did. Asda customer service was shockingly bad. I was down for substitutions. They just fob you off time and time again, sending standard emails and generally repeating the same two or three sentences. Hope you do better.

Did they not sub you with this item either?

No, no subs. Despite me knowing for a fact the store had them that morning (although I think they took them off the shelf). They just recited over and over again that they had no substitutions in that price range. I asked, must have been five times, could they explain their substitutions policy in depth and each time they just ignored the question.

The don't answer your email directly, making you go through the website each time. I too was told a manager would phone me, but received a message from a store colleague simply stating the items were out of stock. Back to square one. Been round and round the merry go round with them and given up. Has put me off Asda quite a bit, as it has given me an idea of the poor quality of their customer service. Hope you have more joy.
