Champagne £5 at Asda - misprice ... quick!!!

I just had a phonecall from the asda contact centre about it, asking if I received the bottles ordered. I confirmed that I received both and she thanked me and ended the call :question:

I managed to buy 6 bottles this afternoon from my local store in Darlaston (West Mids). It was showing the reduced price on the shelf and scanned at that price aswell. A real bargain - thanks OP :beer:

I had ordered 6 bottles but they were apparently out of stock at my local store and they didn't substitute. Got a call from somewhere Asda related apologising and saying they had a problem with their stockist. Hmm.

I have also just received a call from Asda contact centre apologising for not fulfilling my order for the champagne. The lady I spoke to seemed unclear as to why and made lots of excuses about stock etc. She could not say when more stock will be in store. I had my delivery cancelled 10 minutes before it was due but the driver promised his manager would telephone me to let me know when more stock was in so I could book a new delivery time , don't think I'll be getting that call!!!!

Asda seem to be having a problem with this at the moment. Head office are saying that it is a pricing error but instore it is still scanning at £4.97 at 7pm this evening. Surely if this was an error they would have fixed this first thing this morning and it would now be scanning at full price. It is a bit of a mess to be quiet honest, the stores are saying one thing and head office are saying another nobody, really knows what is going on! Does not really help that when you call head office customer service it takes you to an office in South Africa!

Just bought at 20:20 hrs, 6 bottles at Dalgety Bay FIFE store, marked up at full price on shelf, but went and scanned one £4:95!!:) so it appears that Asda computers have not updated yet to reflect £24 plus price.

I was going to head out to a store Cheapchick very kindly said might have stock, but in the end decided against it as I couldn't have left until about half an hour ago, and what with the travel, thought it likely they would either be gone or no longer scanning at the reduced price.

Something odd certainly seems to be going on. Late last night, hedging my bets, a store told me they had them in but they definitely weren't reduced and they would call me in the morning to advise as prices often changed on a Sunday night, which I thought was really good of them. Lady did call but said they had gone out of stock, although they were now scanning at reduced price. Thing is she called very early in the morning, so that would have meant they would have to have been sold overnight which you aren't allowed to do. Hmm. Probably nothing it in, just thinking on it seems a bit odd too.
