Now you would of thought there is a fup on unlimited but nope theres no such thing...I tried my hardest to get the guy and hes manager to tell me what the fair use is but they blankly refused.
Thank god my contract runs out in oct  as i know o2 are getting very tight on data use so i can only see in the future many more like me being cut off unfairly.
cut off for 300mb use over 2 weeks:eek::eek::eek::eek:
good thing i am with three, i have easily cross well above 200mb in a day on occassions and probably above 300mb in a day on occassion and have had no trouble with three network at all. so long as i dont run out of my 1gb limit, it is none of their concern how and when i decide to use the data that i paid for in advance every month. if needed i can buy an addon 5£ for 2gb extra as and when needed. and speeds are decent too between 2900 to 5400kbps downloads. initially always used to be around 5400kbps faster than my landline but now most of the time 2900kbps downloads. uploads were 540kbps initially but now that is 1600kbps usually. which is much faster than tmobile / o2 / orange. i have heard some reports that some raeas in london with vodafone get 7200mbps but that was just one report and havent seen anymore like that one.
you need to find a decent network with reasonable data limits and options for buying more data at fair prices and not extortionate data prices if over limit like virgin etc.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Tell me about it! i thought they were pulling my leg, but they were well serious and took quite alot of persuasion and promises not to use so much quickly (i got the feeling they thought i'll hit 1gb) for them to reinstate my connection.
3 does sound good but signal issues i.e none at home makes that a non starter sadly..I'll probably go with t-mobile android 3gb deal and sell the phone on.
I do wish o2 didnt need to go down this route of caps as i can get pretty good speeds around here where t-mobile is more patchy.0 -

Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and Three all also see the need to go down this route. The days of truly unlimited mobile browsing is like the days of unlimited broadband at an end. All companies have limits in place, and the enforcement will only get stricter. As the EU forces concessions and limits onto the mobile compnay in terms of roaming and limits on bills then so the average user will see his bills creep up.0 -
Hi all I have an o2 simplicity 20 12 month contract, taken out in August 2009, which expired august this year. I have the free blackberry bolt on and free landline calls.
I called up o2 in February to ask about the impact of the changes in data to my contract and was told that there would be no impact so long as i din't change contract and that i will be able to change boltons freely in the future ie from unlimited blackberry to umlimited web.
I am now thinking about switching to an android phone and retaining the contract so I called up to request the change and was told that as of october its no longer possible ie had i called up before october I could have however now i cant!
Does anyone know actually what the situation is and whether I can change if so how to go about getting the change actioned?

Most likely to make the change you move to a current tarrif, or the old one is no longer offered.
As the current contracts don't offer unlimited then you can;t take it.
You can either retain the current contract with its bolt ons or move to a new one but as the old ones no longer available you can't change within it. The CS staff's comptuer will not let them move the bolt as it's not current, it may be the backend staff but most likely you'll have to change to the current offering as you want to make aq change to an obselete tarrif.0 -

I don't like the removal of the unlimited data, but it seems to be common place now, the good thing about O2 is they don't charge you anything extra if you go over your allowance.0 -
I have a similar problem.. I want to change my unlimited blackberry data to an iphone one!is there no way that I could be able to do that?0

thanks gichester and wintermute, am not happy as I was told in February that I would be able to change bolt-on freely for 2009 tariff bolt-ons and now i am not able to, without any warning which is totally unfair and I am sure against contract.
wintermute do you mean that I should buy a new blackberry or can i use the bb data with an android phone?
Anybody else managed to change old, 2009, bolt-ons since october and if so how did you go about it?
thanks!0 -

Not sure it is against the contract. What exactly does it state on the contract? I suspect it says something like "free bolt on" rather than "free internet bolt OR Free landlines Or Free Texts OR free blackberry bolt on" and state them specifically.
Did they say you could not change bolt ons at all or that to change to the unlimited bolt on? If the bolt on is no longer available you won't be able to move to it. If you can't change bolt ons at all despite what you were told thats a different matter.
I don't imagine you'll ever get unlimited web now but you may be able to get 500mb web.0
