O2 now putting data cap on ALL existing customers

besides that as the other networks are doing the same (500mb cap) then I can't see where all the defectors are going to run to?
But the thing is you are agreeing to a 500mb cap if you switch to another network, so its completely different.
As has been mentioned previously though o2 originally said it would be applied to new contracts only in which case there is no issue, unlike with vodafone that applied it to existing contracts..... which helped me to get my contract cancelled.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
tmobile has 3gb for android handsets, so they have somewhere to run to that has 6 times more data allowance than 500mb provided they have an android handset, even otherwise they have a 1gb limit.bubblesmoney :hello:0

thank you finally someone talking sense it for ALL NEW CUSTOMERS WHO SIGN UP AFTER 24/06/10 AND EXISTING UPGRADING CUSTOMERS ONLY NOT EXISTING CUSTOMERS WHO DONT NEED TO UPGRADE
I QUOTE "From 24 June, O2 will introduce three inclusive data bundles for new and upgrading smartphone customers.
" "Existing customers will continue under their present terms, unlimited data usage with an Excessive Use Policy"0 -
The vast majority of our customers use less than 500MB of data a month and we will text you the amount you have used so you can stay in complete control - these texts will start from October. If you need more data you will be able to purchase an additional data Bolt On again from October.
That statistic is cobblers, vodafone also said only 3% of its customers went over the 500mb (coincidentally the exact same figure as o2), they then admitted it was from its entire customer base, had they done it to users who have bought data hungry smart phones released in the last 6/12 months the figure would have been far higher.
And again if it only affects so few customers why do they even feel the need to make these changes..................TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
i havent had this text and I wont be amused when it arrives ( im drawing near to the end of my iphone contract but wanted to keep this contract due to unlimited data usage aspect) without an upgrade.
Anyone know the position for me? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Like i quoted on there website it says new and upgrading customers get capped at 500mb so im assuming you will be a upgrading customer because existing customers lose there unlimited net as soon as their contract finishes0

The thing is that with iOs4, it is relatively easy to leave a streaming radio program running in the background. This eats data for breakfast. Other networks offer 750MB (Orange) and 1GB(Voda) on a typical £35 per month plan.
I think that changing the T's & C's on an existing contract is out of order and they should either back down or release people from their contracts. I've already left for voda so it doesn't affect me though.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -
Its not gonna affect existing customers only upgrading and new customers!!! if you dont belive me look on the 02 site and 02 blog!0

I know what it says on their web site but when you ring them up they confirm that the data cap applies to existing customers. I took out my 2 year contract in march 2010 and it applies to me.
When I rang and queried the text message the detentions person put me on hold and spoke to her manager and confirmed it DID apply to me. It was news to her to find it put today as she thought likee and many others that it was only going to apply to new customers or those who upgraded.
So I repeat existing customers are now being capped. Their press releases and loads of info on their web site leads you to think it does not affect those with contracts dated before June 24. But les me assure you it does. And they at o2 do not think it constitutes a major change in contract.
Hence I would like to hope that one of the moderators would read this and can flag it up for martin and any advice he can offer or weight he can throw to assis in getting it reversed for existing customers who are into a 2 year contract like I am0 -
Well according to the o2 blog and the bbc article etc its new and upgrading customers only! Someone even asked that on the blog and the o2 team confirmed its new and upgrades only existin customers are unaffected until they change their tarif! I have a feelin 02 cs was tslking rubbish. https://www.which.co.uk/news/2010/06/o2-ditches-unlimited-data-tariffs-216692. All confirms this0
