Tesco and blue badge bay abuse.

To limit them to people displaying blue badges is discriminatory.
You've said this before, you asked if I was happy to discriminate against those who don't have badges, which is laughable. If it really is discrimination then it's actually against the law under the DDA - you should bring charges or sue them. Let us know how you get on. Actually on further thought the councils would also be discriminating by not giving every disabled person a badge. This could be a so-called 'rainmaker' case!Only 3% of those registered blind in the UK have zero vision.0 -
Clamping is a dodgy area though isn't it?
And it would just tie the space up for longer if they did that wouldn't it?0 -
Not so simple.
If the spaces are meant for those with a disability then anyone with one can park there.

I fail to see how discrimination is laughable but then each to their own.
Why would I bring charges against anyone?0 -
TheBottomLine wrote: »Parking is enforceable on private land, lots of places have clamping in place with charges for removal. The supermarkets and retail parks don't want to upset the shoppers though so they don't enforce anything - they just have the spaces to make them look good.
We don't have clamping - very civilised0 -
not if the sign says the spaces are for blue bagde holders only ....i would not try "im disabled but no badge" to a copper or traffic warden if you was on a public highway........we all know some private land dont count but public highway is different
Of course but I thought this discussion was about spaces on private land.0 -

Do tell - why?
You seem to think it is somehow acceptable for places not to provide spaces for disabled individuals, merely those with blue badges.
If a place does so then they are discriminating against those without blue badges.
That is fairly obvious to me.
It is of course merely a theoretical argument since blue badge spaces mean nothing on private land and people can park where they wish.0 -

Not at all - engages the old brain cells in debate, which is always a good thing.
Anyway - off to ASDA to double park in a blue badge space!
