I've just bought 2 new tyres at Micheldevers, they told me about a promotion Michelin have on right now. Buy 4 Michelin tyres and you can send off for a £40 fuel voucher. Don't know where voucher is valid though, have a search.

I'd go for the Michelin Primacy. Had 4 fitted a couple of months back, was a vast improvement over the Continentals I had previously. The Michelins have a much quieter softer ride.

I promise you this down to the difference between an old tyre and a new tyre. If you had just put brand new Continentals on you would experience the exact same change. I've had Continentals and Michelin on my current car and they are much the same (good) for noise and ride.
I've just put two new Michelins on the rear to replace the identical but old worn out tyres and experience a quieter softer ride.
You now have new more supple rubber and there is a good 6mm of extra rubber (cushioning) in the ride now, it makes all the difference.
I've had Continental Premium Contacts before, they don't last as long as the Michelins (perhaps 20% less) but they are better at handling water logged roads and they cope a lot better in wet snow. They are considered an all season tyre where the Michelin Pilot Primacy is strictly a summer tyre.

I did try those as a colleague mentioned them. They want £337.84 in this instance.

    Thanks for all the input.

For other people looking at this thread Micheldever actually have an online coupon you can print out that gets you £5 off in lieu of petrol for having gone out of your way.

    I miss my Yoko's :(

On a hot day you'd get back home after a spirited drive and you'd have to pick bits of molten rubber off the tyre's and remove stones that were glued in place by said rubber, back in the days when driving was still fun lol

I've had both Contis and Michelins. I would recommend Michelins for a longer life, but Contis are marginally better handling.
I also use Blackcircles and have them fitted at a local garage. Sometimes it is worth ringing them up, as they have price matched in the past.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)
  • Hi
just had new set online from Tyretraders Pirelli 6000..local tyre places quoting £66 per tyre but Tyretrader delivered them via DHL in two days for £189 for four tyres and local garage fitted them for £20 so check out the web for tyres as often cheaper..the Pirellis are British made by the way ..my car is a Honda Civic but they supply all sizes

Nokian H tyres is a good value for money. German ADAC organisation describe them as "very recommendable". Although almost unheard of in UK they can be bought online from mytyres.co.uk for around £50 per tyre.

I have had a set of them for a year and would definitely get another one.
  • Tyretraders online are also good ..deliver via DHL and prices very competitive

I just had two P6000s fitted today from a local retailer. The total prices including fitting and balancing came to £132 for the pair. I know I could have got them cheaper online but I really needed them as soon as possible and they could put them on within an hour of me calling them up. What gets me is that the larger organisations such as Kwik Fit and National Tyres were quoting ridiculous figures from £190 to £220!!! When you compare against online and my local retailer prices it just shows you how greedy these companies are.
