They left both SELs up so i'm wondering about giving Trading Standards a ring.
. Definately it is an offence to display misleading price indications and Trading Standards will frown upon any store that continues to do so despite being notified that an offence has been committed.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Not so Trading Standards regularly bring action against most of the major stores for such offences.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Markee wrote:From my own experience, and a comment from 'biglugs' (Local Tescos is at Aylesbury, No R&R opportunities), I was wondering if it may be an idea for users to indicate R&R Hotspots or NoGoes?
As such, biglugs local Tescos at Aylesbury would be an R&R NoGo, and my local Tescos at Abingdon would also be an R&R NoGo, but where users have lots of R&R success (ie weekly) these would be R&R HotSpots.
Obviously, this would give Tescos an easy way of identifying R&R Hotspots for 'attention', but on the other hand if they don't already know which stores are R&R Hotspots, then maybe they need to look at pricing procedures etc...
The idea would be for this to be a separate thread, away from misprices and general misprice discussion. Although, I would understand users may be reluctant to broadcast in an open forum that their local Tescos is a hot bed of R&R opportunities!
I have long been frustrated at reading about misprices on here, only to find that on my next visit the store is locked down tight!
Thoughts anyone? If nothing else, I think there is an opportunity for discussion here.
The only no-go areas are those which we as customers allow Tesco to create by taking it on the chin and walking away with our tails between our legs for fear of raising our profiles, If they don't honour the policy report them EVERY TIME. Report the misprice to Trading Standards along with any valid information such as store id, individuals dealt with, details of the item etc, for the misleading advertising (failure to honour refund and replace)your complaint should be the Advertising Standards Agency again providing all relevant information such as where you have seen the price promise displayed, ie c/s desk, website, television advertising, magazines etc etc.

Sorry for repeating this request, but does anyone have any experience of the smaller stores..... am not sure what I will be letting myself in for if I find an R&R in one.

in my experience most of the Expresses and Metros are better than the larger stores at not having misprices.
I think this is for several reasons:
1) They carry a much smaller range. No xboxes, no rib roasts, a very limited selection of fresh meats & fish which is where most of the misprices occur.
They are mainly targeted at the lunchtime crowd whereas most of the people posting on here are doing their daily/ weekly/ monthly shop.
There probably are plenty of misprices on sandwiches, drinks etc. but no-one on here buys them.
2) Metros and Expresses are well known to have higher prices than larger stores. Look at the SEL and it will usually say "Metro, Exp". Tesco, and many other retailers, are usually very on the ball when comparing regional pricing.
If you're 'South of Watford" one can assume London area - ie. the most expensive in the country. From my own knowledge of SELs and price variations I assume that Tesco send out the shelf edge labels to the type of store they think it is. This is where the discrepancy lies. Manufacturers and suppliers get confused over who gets what and therein lies our R&R.
Note that I'm in London and have been through all of the Central London stores.
Again this is my opinion.
YMMV0 -
just off to my local tesco, what do you recommend I look out for console wise? PS2 with lego wars, what else have we had successes with recently please?
thanks all, btw still some Red WKD on at a store near me SEL 2 for £4.50 so they might be worth still looking for for some ppl.0 -

I have only tried one metro and struck lucky with an xbox 360. One of the reasons being that it was an out of date poster, the other reason being that the posters are slighly different to the posters displayed in larger stores so the wording on the poster couldn't be read as just £20 off the game. I haven't been back since though and didn't bother to check for any other misprices whilst I was there. I would say it's definately worth having a look around anyway, you might be lucky0
