Just found this re the Price marking order 2004
"So then, we have established it is important, but what does it require you to do? In general terms, the Price Marking Order requires that traders display the selling price of their goods in a manner which is “unambiguous, easily identifiable and clearly legible” and given in “proximity to the product”. This price must also be “so placed as to be available to consumers without the need for them to seek assistance from the trader or someone on his behalf in order to ascertain it”.
So it is an offence for a retailer not to clearly display a sale price. I would think though that any manager would argue that "it was there when I last checked"0 -

Excellent! I must see, on average, 15-20 games/dvds etc per store visited that have no price info whatsoever. NIce to know that it's illegal. Gives me more ammunition if I ever get a stroppy CS....I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

At the end of the day by getting up to date with your rights as a consumer you can argue your case, the more knowledge you have the better. At the end of the day I was a retail manager for 5 years and knew NONE of these laws like I do now I train staff.
I think that when you quote 'sales of goods', 'trading standards', trade descriptions', 'price marking' etc they are very unlikely to argue as you will know more than them!:happylove !!NEW AND JUST LEARNING!! :happylove0 -

Not on big items, I've never tried for them, but there's usually the occasional r+r on chilled or frozen produce, especially meat. If you're happy with the odd few pounds saved here and there then you should be fine at 5 Ways. If you're looking for that elusive x-box then possibly not.
And I've always found the CS staff to be first class.
I am happy with any money saved and i must be strange that i don't want a free x-box (although i could sell it on ebay, but i'd feel guilty about buying a product i didn't want or need just to make money)
I will be on the lookout now that i know that some of the prices might be displayed wrongly
and may frequent Tesco more often as they are more likely to have the Try Me Free stuff in stock as wellDebt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -

This gets better! According the above article, the penalty to the retailer for not showing price info on any product is....an UNLIMITED FINE!!I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
Justa thought, was on a recki today, two stores that I had my eye on something in had sudenly sold out of product.
But I reckied this one just 2 days ago and the shelf was full.
Incidently, both stores didn't have the old xbox sel up, but now they both do with game of the week being Prey..
don't supose they trying to sucker people in ? knowing they got the " prey was last weeks GOW" excuse ?
naaah, they not that petty and would never sink that low...Back to square one, no apg, no comment.0 -
Thanks sog was looking for that myself didn't want to post before I found it and give some smart mouth a cheap shot.
Yes indeed it is a legal requirement for a trader to display a clear and unambiguous price for each item on display for sale.
The fact is the removal of price indicators is just another way around r&r, such as the stickering of products already identified is and even this in many cases is a further infringement of the law when the sticker obscures date coding and weight indicators but that's another thing Tesco seem little concerned about.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
