Essentially the value of the bargain is doubled in the event the customer is overcharged and this is agreed before the completion of the sale.
Thanks again Ben for more useful advice.
So, in a nutshell, our rights are quite strong if an R+R is refused for no good reason other than the manager saying "I don't feel like giving you an R+R" (i.e. I want to intimidate and bully you into not having an R+R so that I don't look a knob when I explain to HO that I lost the company £320 by leaving an old poster up)............
So do you reckon we may have grounds to sue because the advertised R+R policy was part of the bargain offered by Tesco, and this is what influenced our decision to shop there in the first place? Could an R+R be enforced in a court of law, do you think?0 -
Can I just quickly ask, you know how they often offer you a refund rather than R&R, has anyone ever said...
"OK, but only if you do them in clubcard points ie 1000 points per tenner!"
I was wondering this the other day when a misslabled phone with the wrong phones sticker I got offered £20 discount, not bad really saying it was 50/50 at best for an R&R (wrong SEL for the model). I declined and had me cash back, but I wonder if I should have asked for 2000 points instead. Anyone tried it?
2000 points is worth £80 to me which I wouldn't have grumbled at.
Also would any tesco staff like to comment on if it would be OK for them if this was asked?0 -

Leyton Store
Hello, I've been trawling through the pages this morning trying to find the answer to my question, I know I read it here the otherday... Any advice will be appreciated.
I found the 10% leaflets in store this morning (along a lot of the till) and bought two phones for the kids. I then went to customer service and said I've been over charged, the gent went of to get my phones whilst we waited for the duty manager as it was over his refund limit. The duty manager called Head Office and between her and head office it was agreed not to R&R. I took a refund of the total and they kept the phones (sob).
I was advised by the gent to call HO and complain (give it to them), which I did. I also called the store back to further complain. I am in the process of arranging a meeting for the store manager.
Update Duty manager just called, told me to come and collect my phones as a 'goodwill jesture'. WoohooWhen I say 'I', that can mean 'we' or even 'he' :rolleyes:0 -

Very good question.
I will try this out when haggling for an expensive r&r that manager is trying to wiggle out of. I'll let you know how I get on.

I hope I get the same result. I'm still waiting for a reply to my emails regarding the same scenario, except I still have the mobiles.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -
hi just wondering if any body has done an r+r in any of the stockton areas and if so how did it go>:beer:0

Hi just to let you know that I have made two written complaints to trading standards and to head office recently.
One was over a small amount that I was refused a refund on, and the other was a large amount I was refused.
Some people on here were having a go at me for 'spoiling it for others' and being 'pedantic' and other things.
But I am pleased to say that within the last couple of days I have had a written apology from head office with a refund for both items. The letter basically said that customer services is important to them so they are sorry to hear about my experience.
They confirm that the stores who refused R+R were wrong and should not have done this on any occasion. They apologise and gave a refund back to me.
So you will always get the odd manager or HO representative who disagrees with you, but ultimately they are wrong and you are right.
'If we charge you more....we will give you your money back and let you keep the products' This stands as is with no terms or conditions. If they break this policy it’s not a case of 'you win some you lose some', but 'you have been fobbed off', in my book at least.
I am pleased they have addressed my concerns and feel it will make them take notice and enforce R+R even more strongly in future, including reprimanding and re-training staff if necessary. This is my opinion which I highlighted in my letter of complaint to them.0
