Hi, Just been to tesco and got a SE K510i and voucher, discount did not come off. Manager has offered me £20.00 off as a goodwill gesture. He said the poster should not have been left up. Also the poster stated

    £20 off handsets over £50.00
    £10 off handsets under £50.00*

    * subject to availability and expires 17/9/06.

I said the * indicates that the £10.00 had expired not the £20.00

He wouldn't budge so I said I will think about it and pop back in tomorrow. He wrote his offer on my receipt.

If I ring head office what do you think they will say and whats the number.
    Cheers

Ok been on to CS, She said that the store was right and they were very generous in offering the £20.00 off. I said isn't the policy there for this reason and shouldn't this be covered by their policy, she said no. She huff and puffed and tuted alot so I told her that I was being very nice to her could she please stop doing that as its very rude. I pointed out that the poster was misleading in that the star was only at the end of the £10.00 line not the £20.00 line, she then turned very nice and said she would call the manager, she rang back to speak to let me know manager was in a meeting and she would call later. She also said she finished at 2, so I called at 1 as I had not heard from her when I asked for her I was told there were 7 people with that name (should have got a surname) anyway explained the situation to another guy who again said the store were in the right and I was wrong, its a mistake that the poster was left up but not an overcharge so the policy didn't apply, what should I do now?

:j :j :j :j :j :j Got my R and R. Joanne phoned and said store expecting me. Quite nervous going down but armed with her extension number in case of problems I felt quietly confident. All sorted :j :j :j :j :j

PS They didn't mark my receipt except previous cross out (attempted r and r until I objected earlier)and rec on game (as was one you had to collect at CS) Does this mean I can take it back and refund it legit or is this pushing it too far????

Yes. As that is literally stealing, and hopefully they will catch you out and have you prosecuted.

    MyUserNamesTaken,
Yes I did get a refund after 15 minutes which wizzed by. The cs said 'I'll scan this white one to see if that is the offer even though the poster dosen't state that'. Scanned the game & console & said 'No that dosen't work either.'
CS automatically wrote refund on my receipt for Tekken, which then I explained surely it is a bundle deal & I have been overcharged on both.
CS ' Sorry I can only refund the game as that is how I have read the poster £10.00 off the game.'
Me ' I see it as a bundle deal, a package, I have had to buy both items to get the discount which I haven't received.'
CS ' No I can only refund the game.'
Me ' Well I'll leave it then could I see the manager or have Head Office number?' (Act dumb I do know it thanks to Previous posters )
CS 'I'll get her but have already spoken to her anyway about this
Manager goes to poster brings it to me, ' It clearly is £10.00 off the game'
Me repeated same to her about bundle deal.
Manager says clear no just the game.
Me 'In the first instance of me reporting this the poster should have been took down'
Manager ' Well I just have done'
Me 'I don't want the refund on the game, could I please have HO number'
Manager ' I will phone the store manager'
They talked away he asked her how much it was she said '£180.82'
Me ' Sorry I bought bread as well so £179.00 something.'
Manager puts phone down tells CS refund the lady the lot.
CS surprised and looked pxxxxd off.

It really isn't as painful as it sounds.

Why r&r something if you don't want it? It's pure greed. There are alot of instances where people are going after misprices they don't want and then attempting to get their money back. It is this sort of thing that gives r&rers a bad name.

Tescos overcharge a lot of people yes, and they are paying for it in a way with all the r&rs they are giving and will hopefully continue to give. I only ever r&r what I want or need as it's shameful just to go after something because it's there and you can hope to return it at a later date. I think it's disgusting and dishonest.

OK - if you can find this sign: "£10 off when you buy a PSP Console and Game of The Week' then you are in.

Select the PSP Base Unit (149.97) and GOTW Tekken - yes it is actually game of the week as opposed to being the wrongly dated poster.

Both the GOTW and '£10' SEL have 21/9 as the expiry date.

The £10 discount will not come off.

Warning: - Don't be greedy and try the PSP Giga pack (£219.97) - as the discount will kick in.

Great fun with this last nite - had one CS lasy who didn't know what a PSP was - the Duty Mananger trying to argue that it was supposed to be £10 off the game - and a cool CS dude who kept agreeing with me and telling the manager "He's right you know".

    Quick call to HQ - 0800 505555 - R&R sorted.

Be quick Dudes - this offer ends today - get out there and grab some console action!

Thank you for this great tip ! It works a treat and I was refunded fairly quickly. The CS lady and her mate first tried the £10 back offer and, when I muttered about one of their staff having explained to me a few weeks back about the policy she apologised that she had to speak to a Manager as it was a lot of money. The Manager was on a conference call and evidently told her to go away so she tried his assistant. That one obviously told her to palm me off cos I heard her say 'No, that won't work I've already tried.' He argued with her and then she said 'No, the lady is right and she's standing right in front of the big notice which says she should get all her money back - she knows what the policy is so what do you want me to do ? Just tell me yes or no !'

When she came off the phone she was muttering about useless Managers but she was as nice as pie about giving me a full refund.

The sting in the tale was when I got home - they've forgotten to put the darn disc in the game sleeve ! Wouldn't be so bad but the shop is miles away and I only go there when I'm working in the area. I phoned and they've agreed I can pick a disc up next week.

One other interesting comment was made - she told me that Asda would only give the difference in cases like this (which I knew). But she also said that Asda are better than Tesco if an item doesn't work properly - apparently Asdo will then replace the faulty item AND give you a full refund. I didn't know that and I don't know if its true.

  • Popped into another Tesco this afternoon. The PSP departments are getting devoid of any SEL's or Special Offer notices, but guess what, they left the 'Top 20 Games' chart and at the bottom of that chart is the PSP and GOTW offer, so you got 'em. In a bit of a rush with the schools coming out and got to collect child, but will hit them in the morning for that one.
