  • certainly is correct via SEL. When a discount does come off I tend to double check it as I know sometimes they discount but still get it wrong.
  • This morning I found a SEL on jam at 2 for £1.50 deal that was out of date (98p each). When I went for a refund, I was told that I had paid the correct price for the first item and had been overcharged only for the 2nd item. The CS girl refunded 98p.

Tonight I've been back in and noticed that they still hadn't taken the SEL off the shelf so I picked up two more jars and did it again. The CS girl working the evening shift refunded all of the £1.96 that I paid for both jars.

Which CS did it right and which did it wrong? Any opinions please?

(point to consider... if its a BOGOF thats expired and you only get the 2nd one refunded then that's only the same as getting the BOGOF in the first place)

The second one was right .... look at it another way, the deal didnt say buy one for 98p and we will charge you 52p for the second, it said 98p for one or 2 for £1.50 ... by buying 2 you are getting a "bundle" so to speak and if you get charged more than £1.50 you have been overcharged on that "bundle of 2".

At least thats the logic that has worked for me most of the times in the past :)
  • Well however you look at it the first girl was wrong.

2 for 1.50 means that if you buy "two" the price is 1.50. If the sign had said "buy one jar for 98p and get a second jar for 52p" then she might have stood to win. But it doesn't, it says 1.50 for two.

PS, 98p, you did not make a scene over 98p and start swearing and shouting, the result was you were able to go back in later for two more jars of jam.

That in itself is more important a lesson than who was right.

There is so much confusion and misunderstanding around this whole R&R policy. I have lost count of the number of times I have had to point this policy out to Customer Services, often to the same member of staff when I have been mischarged.
So, I am left with the concnlusion that Customer Service Staff are deliberately trying to avoid it?.

If so, please, please, would somebody from Tesco's reading this thread come forward and answer the million dollar question, WHY?. Are stores rated, or scored on the amount they give back in R&R's?. Is there some sort of league table to name and shame stores with the highest amounts?. Does the money come from your wages?.

So much confusion, so much misunderstanding, what is going on??

No, no league table. No, the money does not come from wages (directly at least)

Like so many things in life, there are people who are good at their jobs and people who are not.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
    I am not sure
  • I dont think the scisor sisters offer was £3 off

I think it was £9.77 but if you buy any chart cd or DVD then get it for £6.97

    making the discount £2.80

It definitely was £3 off in my local on Monday night because the Spiderman DVD was £3.93 and I remember thinking that if it did not work I would only end up paying 93p for the DVD!

    Strange goings on or what!

All signs are gone for the offer in my local tonight!

OK can I have your thoughts please guys.

Saw a poster for £10 off PSP and GOTW bundle which was Tekken. Noticed the poster says "Save £10 when bought with a PSP" or words to the effect that the £10 was off the game. Discount didn't trigger at the till and I took it to CS who went to the manager who told me that the £10 was off the game, I can have the game R&Rd. I pushed a bit and the manager stood firm.

Are tesco right? The poster honestly says words to the effect of "Game of the week £10 off when bought with a PSP" which says to me that the saving is off the game, not the bundle. Where do I stand? Was I just too soft???
  • Kylie cd was SEL £9.79 Label £9.97, but went through at the SEL price..

I got a load of meat rr from a very nice lady at cs, and asked her why the Kylie cd had no seal on it.. "What happens if I want to return it, there is no seal"

"They don't come with seals anymore, if you don't want it bring it back within 28 days and we will refund it as long as it doesnt have any scratches on it"

I asked her to check it for scratches before I took it out because I will go back tomorrow and get my refund..

She then said "Well really all you have to do is bring it back and say it is jumping and you will get your money back anyway"!!

    Deary, deary me Tesco!
I don't post much, but when I do it's all good!!

The inducement is clearly towards the package and not the individual product you are entitled to r&r.
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.
  • I think the word "with" here is the trigger. It means 1 copy of the game and 1 PSP, if it did not then you could fill your basket with teken and buy 1 psp. Hence the offer WAS on the bundle, I take it you did need to buy the PSP.
Stand your ground and report to HO asap.
