  • OK, I've finished the book and smoked my last ciggie.
In the words of Alan Carr "Yippee - I'm a non-smoker".
I do feel quite elated to think that I'm never going to have to smoke another filthy fag in my life.

I hope all you others are doing well - DON'T STOP STOPPING.

I won't be online again until next Tuesday when I'll be able to report I'm on my 5th day as a non-smoker.

Cheers for all your words of support and encouragement.

Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?
  • Hiya...

I have stopped smoking. Coming upto to 3 weeks now... Still get the odd craving, but I am so glad I did it... Well done to everyone here... I know how hard it is...
  • Hi all,

Well done on the great work on stopping smoking :)

Thought I'd mention that under the 6 months free gym membership with pruhealth insurance deal (elsewhere on the chat forums and MSE), pruhealth will also subsidise Allen Carr clinics. Usually these are £200 each and with pruhealth it will be £50 (for up to 3). I *think* even that is money back if you don't stop.

Hope that helps and keep it up :)

  • Hi, I stopped the first day of my holiday in July. Its been nearly 11 weeks now.I took niquitin losengers for the first week. The Allen Carr book helps but I really dont think its "easy" as he says.
It may not be related, but Ive found I now have restless legs all the time.
Now taking Kalms to see if it will settle me.
Its good to share this-I know its the right choice

I only did half a shift at work today and had a craving for a ciggy when I left work. Only lasted about 5 mins but it went after I drank a load of water. Must be something about changing my routine and finishing work early.

Yesterday was weird, suddenly a picture of myself smoking appeared in my brain, had to think 'no, don't want one, happy now etc'. Apart from that everything was OK. Stood up to my boss OK without the need to run for the ciggies after.

Horrible, horrible nights sleep though. I was so tired last night I was in bed at 22.50, 23.20 I was wide awake craving. Sorted that out but all night I was having nightmares, not being able to sleep. I find that in the in between sleep and wakes I can't apply the brain thing that Allen Carr suggests, therefore so close to having a cigarette and I really don't want to.

Has anyone else had a bad experience trying to sleep? The grumpiness I feel today is from lack of sleep, not nicotine craving!!

On a positive note, that's 35 hours and 18 minutes a non smoker.

    Your feedback would be appreciated.
