It occurred to me earlier that there must be some degree of madness on this thread - to contemplate giving up smoking when we're all facing varying degrees of financial hardship / challenges.
Think when our finances are back in order and I've quit smoking I might consider climbing Everest or swimming the Channel.0 -

LOL! I'll swim the channel with you:rotfl: . Definately we are all mad, but hey may as well take ourselves one step nearer the looney bin!

Everyone is doing really well (7 weeks for me now!)
Keep going.
As has been stated in a previous post - no one is 'giving up' anything, in fact quite the reverse!
Can we make a pact on this thread (and when talking to people 'out there') that we do NOT refer to it as 'giving up smoking' but 'stopping smoking'?
I'm sure that in some tiny way it might just help, psychologically.:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Richard_S wrote:Good morning all,
Had a really lousy nights sleep last night, I've heard several people comment on that, does anybody know why stopping smoking should affect your sleep patterns?
How did everybody else get on??
I had a really bad nights sleep, I woke up 12 times last night. that was in only 6.5 hours. I had a pen and paper by the bed and everytime I woke up I wrote the time down.
I managed to get some slepp at work to make up for it. Banged my head and cut it so the Nurse told me to lie down for an hour, 20 seconds later asleep for an hour.
I knew this would happen and it will continue for me for about 6 to 8 weeks it has done in the past. I know I have given up over 10 times lasted anywhere from 2 months to 21 months. Normally average 6 months.
My mum said it is the body craving for the Nicotine. I don't know. Somebody with one of these books must know the answer.

It's your brain thinking that the answer to the way you are feeling is to have a cigarette. It isn't. The way you are feeling is not caused by NOT having a cigarette, it's caused by HAVING a cigarette. non smokers don't feel what you're feeling, so it must be the last cigarette you smoked that is causing it. And having a cigarette is going to start the whole process off again. The only way to not feel like that anymore is to not smoke.
The feeling WILL pass.:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Thought it was just me but i must of woke up at least 6 times last night. Really tired today. Was going to see a (smokeing ) friend earlier for a coffee and a gossip but she wasnt in (thank god) i'll ring her instead later. she is terrible at changing my mind and i just feel a bit weak today so i don't need temptation.:hello: :kisses3:

I will sleep better in the short term if I have a Ciggy, well a few ciggy's. But that ain't going to happen. In the long term I know I will be better off.
But it does not help when I look like !!!!!!! in the morning from not having enough sleep.
I would get out and do some exercise but I have a torn Calf muscle which I did on Holiday (leaping into the swiming pool) that l am trying to heal, so no running for another 6 to 8 weeks. Now lots of exercise does help with the sleeping pattern.3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0 -
