The way you are feeling is not caused by NOT having a cigarette, it's caused by HAVING a cigarette. non smokers don't feel what you're feeling, so it must be the last cigarette you smoked that is causing it. And having a cigarette is going to start the whole process off again. The only way to not feel like that anymore is to not smoke.
The feeling WILL pass.holier than thou0 -

Hiya gang
Well Ive avoided this thread sofar as Im technically not "giving up" Im just not smoking at the moment
it has worked for me. I have had a few small lapses ( Ive smoked on a night out, and one on friday when we had mates round & I did in a couple of bottles of wine, so resolve was weakened) Saqying that though Ive been to the pub where im the only person not smoking, and it was OK. I agree with someone up the page, that is not actually that hard.
Ive got an inhalator which is rank ( pot, do you want my extra capsules I wont use them) cant stand the flavour. Its a psychologiucal habit more than anything else. And Im breaking the badck of it, but really Im eating loads.
I have had cigarettes in the house the whole time and sometimes I go, light up, hold it in my hand, take a puff, heave, then chuck it. It really is quite a vile flavour, weird, I always used to love it, ahh the first fag of the day Yum.
So I reckon Ive saved in the region of 40 quid since then although god knows where its gone ( been overspending this month anyway what with buying paint and what have you) so its gone there. However, now Im getting paid tomorrow, I need to set up my savings account. Every day. im going to transfer 5.25 into my savings account. And Im going to gaze at it.
For those who dont know this is precipitated by the query that I might, at the ripe old age of 28 have cancer. I might not though too, we shall see in a few days. However, its enough to make me think seriously about what Im doing.
And if I do have cancer. then all the money I will have saved by not smoking will pay for a holiday of a lifetime before I fall off my perch.
If I dont, Im saving for a holiday of a lifetime anyway :money:
Keep trucking, and dont beat yourself up if you trip, just get back on board and applaud yourselves for breaking possibly THE hardest addiction going.
Best of british:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Hi lil'H
Thanks for the offer of company, think I might have to do some serious exercising though otherwise you could be practising your life saving skills before we got out of sight of the white cliffs of Dover. lol (can't get Smilies to work on my posts)0 -
Hello guys,
Do you mind if I join you in your stop smoking quest?
I'm most of the way through the Alan Carr book and I'm hoping my 'final cigarette' moment will happen over the next day or so.
I have done it before, mostly using the will power, although I did read a little of the Alan Carr but had already stopped by then.
My motivation before was wanting to get pregnant and I stopped for the year that it took me to fall pregnant, the time that I was pregnant and the time I was breastfeeding - a little over 2 years in total.
Looking back I really can't understand why I started again, but I put it down to the stress of being a new mum and loosing my father a couple of days before the baby was born.
This time the main motivators are health and money, but I don't want my son growing up thinking that smoking is a normal thing to do.
I've been putting off the 'final cigarette' moment - not quite sure why really, but reading all your posts has given me the kick up the !!!! I need and I'm determined to do it.
Well done to all those who have made the decision already!0 -
You made it!!!!
Welcome Boatie, and best of luck:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
