  • People seem to being very cynical without giving the site time to cope with the upsurge. Their Rep is saying that they will be restocking and theres a week before the 241 offer ends so perhaps a bit of patience is in order?

If however they dont restock before the offer ends, then there will be questions that need answering but until then why not give it the benefit of doubt?

I m fairly desperate having lost my glasses lol but I m still going to wait till the site operating properly to order, I m not good with frustration!

    just seen this on facebook

Glasses Direct ‎30% off today, 20% off tomorrow, 10% off thursday. check it out here: http://www.glassesdirect.co.uk/countdown-sale/

Save up to 30% on ALL Frames at Glasses Direct ™

Does this mean that if I can`t get the deal to work today - because of alleged `high traffic volume`, then I won`t get the deal I was led to believe I would when I bought the voucher? In that case it`s a fraudulent rip off.

That was posted on Tuesday (today is the last day with 10% off), and unfortunately offers cannot be combined. The groupon deal works out as a bigger and better saving than the 10% off.

So in one weeks time after restocking, will we still get the choice between 47 styles?

Combine the Groupon voucher with Glasses Direct's buy one get one free offer and use it on its £39 glasses range and you can effectively get two pairs of glasses for £9 plus £3.95 postage.

There are 47 different styles available at £39 that can are also in the 2for1 offer and Glasses Direct says good stock is available. See all its £39 glasses.

Well its not a financial loss if they run out of stock. Just a waste of time and bad PR.

I'm slowly getting there with my order, but delivery is coming up at £7.90?

I thought it was £3.95 per order, not per pair of specs?

It appear that once again a company has misled its potential customers into believing they could cope with the extra traffic an offer will generate, only to let them down.

Makes you wonder if these are delibarate tactics by them to create some publicity for themselves.
  • I think like others have said, many companies underestimate the impact a deal like this can have on their site. I doubt they're having us on, but I will of course reserve judgement until my order is confirmed!

It seems some people have managed to place their order and their customer service systems are also at a standstill, even two hours after the initial crash.

I think it's just a case of sticking with it and hoping the glasses you want are still in stock... and if not, then I'll be putting my angry hat on! :p

We have anticipated and bulked up stock on our most popular lines at £39. If we start running out of lines at £39, we'll move the price on styles at £49 down to £39 so that we maintain the level of styles available there without you losing choice at that price.

I can guarantee you this is not a tactic to create publicity.

Why could you not cope with the extra traffic after you gave explicit assurances that you could?
