Mai-tai I think they were, at £39 on the main page, then £59 when I went to order.

I'm thinking of waiting for the storm to clear a bit before using the voucher, of course the deal for £39 glasses will have subsided, but that isn't much of an issue to me for I preferred 1 kind in the £49 price. MY question is, if I were to use my voucher and pay £10 for a pair of £49 glasses, I'm entitled to a free second pair up to £49 correct? Does that include lens enhancements? As in, if my second pair was a £39 pair, then added the £10 tint, that second pair would still be free right? So in a sense I'm just paying about £23 for 2 pairs, 1 regular, 1 sun glasses.

You're partly right, you're entitled to a second free pair up to £49, but that includes the frame and basic lenses, so if you wanted a second pair of glasses with a tint you'd need to pay another £10 for the tint - so it would work out as £33 (£23 if you selected 2 pairs at £39)

how can any company not expect 'such high traffic' after advertsing an offer like this!!!

If you start such an offer as good as this one at a certain time, especially during the day you should expect most people to buy at the start time....
  • this is ridiculous, its not recognising my log in details or the voucher code now

yep. 6-7x normal traffic is nothing. should be scale-able to 20x more traffic. doesn't seem to be bandwidth, but hardware, ie slow cpu/lack of mem related ;).

Glasses Direct is currently down for unplanned maintenance

Unusually high demand has caused some of our technology to blink and fall over. We're really sorry, and our technology team are working hard on it at the moment to get everything back up and running.

Not surprised really that the Companies made claims about their services that turned out to be untrue!

Both Groupon and Glasses Direct stated that they could cope with the amount of people that would order...in reallity they both failed big time!

I checked the price of Mai-Tai and it was £59 in the carousel on the homepage, and £59 on the product page. The only £39 product was cowboy and that's still £39.

Oranjj - As far as I'm aware the Mai-tai frames have always been £59, I was going to buy them a couple weeks back (before my car tax came up!) and remember them being that price. I'm thinking of these frames though?

I'm happy with the deal though, I got 2 glasses I was considering buying anyways for £23 and according to my order status they're already being sent to the lab. Very quick!
