One thing to note for people who haven't used their voucher yet:

If you order a hometrial *do not* enter your voucher at that point, it's free so you don't need a discount, but our systems will currently consider it as being used so when you come to purchase the discount code won't work.

Customer services will of course sort it out and make sure you get the full discount on your purchase once you let them know what's happened, but it's just easier all round if you're aware. :)

    so in summary:
    - If you're getting a home trial first *don't* enter a discount code when you're ordering the hometrial
    - Only enter the discount code when you're actually paying for the actual glasses order

I have varifocals. I didn't spot that they were extra but accepted it when I ordered +£60 didn't seem too bad with the discount - and I get a "Free" second pair.

Well my 2 pairs for £9 deal ended up with a bill for £162.95. Not at all such a good deal. It actually says "Your FREE second pair £60". Is that an abuse of the language?

I'm not interested. I hope that I can get my £9 back.

Dear GD Rep. I was hoping to order a pair of something semi-rimless and a pair if the heavy rectangular type frame. I seem to recall several months ago you had a few very nice semi rimless pairs in the lower price range, at the moment there is only the Maddox ( which isnt available at the time of typing this) do you know if it is likely that more semi, and any less fussy heavy rectangular frame coming into stock in the near future.

PLEASE IGNORE :o) plenty of semi rimless on the site this morning and glasses now ordered!

varifocals are ALWAYS extra no matter where you get them, this always includes the free pair and it usually has "includes free single vision lenses" in the small print so I am not sure why you were surprised. I use them myself, but on this occasion have ordered a pair from ASDA where the charge for varifocals was £40 extra. I don't however know how big the vision range is as the cheaper ones have smaller areas of the different prescriptions, the girl didn't have a chart to demonstrate but said they were the bigger range better quality ones. Boots on the other had had a choice of 3 at astronomic prices.
Have used GD this time for a distance pair and a computer reading intermediate pair and had good customer service - they asked me to ring in to double check the prescription and then answered a load of what must have seemed stupid questions with patience and humour. Thumbs up to GD.

Can I congratulate Glasses Direct on their excellent service - both pairs of my glasses were delivered in under 5 days. I have used the on-line chat twice and on both occasions was given clear and friendly advice.

Well done GD and Thank You x
