I was contacted by GD rep on the phone regarding a stocking query, and was advised that they were restocking the *out of stock* frame styles and that they would be made available to me at the previously offered price if the offer end date passed before they became available to order.
Reading the replies posted by *glassesdirect company representative* I can see no indication that the out of stock styles will be restocked in any quantities to meet demand.
The person simply states that these styles will become available from returned samples which have been provided to those lucky enough to have got thier orders in before the ordering system collapsed.
Leaving aside the question of timescale involved in the returning of unwanted sample frames, the rep assumes that there are going to be the out of stock styles amongst those returned. The whole reason why the styles are out of stock is that they are in demand generally, so the quantity of returns will be limited.
As to the styles which have been reduced in price to supplement the styles which have experienced high demand, what makes GD believe that PINK coloured mens style glasses are a suitable alternative for the Gunmetal finish styles?
To some extent, I agree with earlier postings that appear to accuse GD of dumping thier unsaleable colours and styles into the pot to cover up the fact that they should have made suitable arrangements with thier suppliers before making this offer.
Does *glassesdirect company representative* have any positive and catagorical statement to give regarding restocking styles or extensions to the time period of the offer based on the date when the restock occurs?

    Hi Derring,
I'm really sorry you've had this issue. It is particularly frustrating when a certain style that you're after is one that goes out of stock. We still have plenty of stock of our most popular and biggest selling styles - the ones that sold out aren't traditionally our bigger selling styles, I am truly sorry that the particular styles you like have gone out of stock. I can honestly say that our most popular styles are well stocked, but certain styles sold at a much higher rate than we expected, unusually so.

On the issue of pink glasses, all colours of a particular product are shown, we don’t(can't!) pick specific colours to show, pink may be one of those, but that product is also available in black, dark red, purple and red – but that particular frame has always been in the selection, wasn’t added as a replacement.
We simply don’t have unsaleable styles at these prices – we couldn’t afford to.
We have thousands of frames going out and coming in from hometrials every day, so it does have an impact on the available stock on the site.
Some other of our best sellers have also been dropped from £59 > 49, so that you can get 2 pairs of £59 glasses for £19, which would likely be £100s on the highstreet.
We’ve really tried to make sure that there is a wide range of products at this level, and I'm really sorry if you feel the particular styles that you're after aren't within them.

I have a voucher if someone wants to PM me. I got this for my son but his prescription has changed so much that GD can't make them for him. Not sure if there are any other companies that go as high as-5.75, i anyone knows please do let me know?

We can do -5.75, but I suspect your son has a strong astigmatism. Our limits are +/-8 when the sph + cyl are combined, so if your son has a cyl value on his prescription of -2.50 or more, then we he would unfortunately fall outside our limits.

Getting really sick of this now.

Thr problem is that all the frames left in the female £39 range are basically two styles, and the ones you have reduced are the same style as what was already left.
Is there any chance that some of the modern chunky frame, rectangular wide arm styles will be reduced? They were the first to sell out and I would guess its what most people are waiting for.

This is what I'm waiting for too. Wondered if there is maybe any word on this?

Cuba-libre is one of our most popular frames which is chunky with big arms and has dropped down from £59 > £49. (It's a ladies frame - I don't know if that's a problem - can't tell from people's names in the forum)

Otherwise most of our styles like that start at £59

Thanks for this. Yes, it is the ladies glasses for me. I wasn't as keen on the Cuba Libre for myself in truth, didn't like the detailing, but thanks for taking the trouble to suggest an option. It is more plain ones I am looking for in dark colours, the more adventurous colours and stylings definitely aren't for me I'm afraid.

When I first checked the site before the voucher it seemed like there were a larger range of rectangular chunkier frames at the lower price range, but then I couldn't get onto the site for a couple of days and when I eventually did it seemed they had gone. Oh, well. It is good to know and have the update anyway. I'm waiting on Mojito in black coming back in from the £59 range, which I was told should be the end of July, so I think I will go for them when they come back in.

Thank you GD rep, yes you are right he does have a strong astygmatism which seems to have gone really worse over the last year as his last glasses were from you and fell well in the limits. This check was done by Optical Express who were seeing if he would be able to have eye laser treatmment and he can for a spare £3.5K, and this is the prescription provided by them, I think I might suggest he get it checked again. Laser treatment def out now.
