Christies Bonhams etc have specialist sales of pop memorabilia and also people who can spot a fake or genuine from a mile away. You don't have to go to London there may be one near you. If not contact the person who deals with that specific dept and e mail them with photos etc. They will then value for free on the hopes tat you will put them in your auction.
I did this recently with some items I found and was gobsmacked at their value. Also big Auction houses will be on line and the USA market for this stuff is massive.

The actual scan won't hurt it, but your grubby fingers could!diggerman123 wrote: »rang christies today and they are very interested in the letter. they want me to scan it and the envelope and send the images to them.

If you can, handle it as little as possible, preferably with lint free gloves, this removes the likelihood of acid from your hands reacting with the paper. 0 -
OOh tell us how you get on! Also have you told them about the other Elvis stuff as they may be intereted if it comes from the same collector. :j0

Sounds like the beginnings of a specialist auction.
It is really good when you get paid to clear a load of junk and find some gems like this.
The best I managed was £40-worth of silver coins in a joblot of carboot stuff that cost me £51.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hi I just checked an Elvis website and March 17 1961 is the exact day that shooting began on the movie Blue Hawaii ! - what a coincidence ! ( not postmarked from Hawaii is it ! ) :j
although thats when shooting started ,dosent mean that the legend was there from day one I suppose !?
update - on one site it states March 17 and on another it states March 27
any references to anything in the letter ?
he recorded the song Blue Hawaii in LA 22 March ( so guess that would lean toward the later shooting date )
although on yet another site it has March 28 recorded the track "Moonlight Swim" in Hollywood
its a complicated life !As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !

it mentions in the letter that he is about to start filming blue hawaii and has just completed wild in the country so that ties in :beer:we all have bad days , some more than others ..................0
