Has anyone had any dealings with Loan Centre?
I registered with them believing (stupidly) that they were responsible for providing a loan to me rather than broking it out.
I have not accepted anything that they have offered and so far the fee that they requested hasn't been taken from my account so I contacted them to tell them I didn't need their services and that they should cancel my details and not take any payment from me. This is a copy of their response:-
"This payment was taken from your account as agreed as a one off membership joining fee when you completed the on line application. As stated on the website when you joined, we don't charge this fee upfront and as promised, the fee is only charged after we have found you your first recommended Lender and Loan. This service is a membership and your personal webpage will be updated regularly as new and cheaper plans, new Lenders and discounts become available to you. Your membership also includes access to your free credit report, over £85 worth of eBooks, discounts which can save you hundreds of pounds and access to lenders you won't find anywhere else."
Am I able to apply for a refund under the terms of the Consumer Credit Act for any amount over the £5 fee that they should charge if they do take any money from my account?
I feel stupid enough already
I don't even recall signing up for them, yet they have taken 74.95 out of my account. Any advice? I asked them for a refund but got this reply.
Thanks.

Unfortunately I was one of those people duped into giving money to this company.
Through shere determination and perseverance, I have managed to get my money back through my bank (Halifax). The first thing I did was send a letter to the loan centre by recorded delivery....waited 30 days as instructed by my bank, still no reply. My emails to them also fell on blind eyes.
Finally I instructed my bank to recall the debit card payment as I had done everything in my power to try and retrieve my money from the company myself. The bank investigated the matter and after about three weeks refunded the money to my account.
Therefore if you have been duped in the same way, I would recommend the following:
1. Send a letter by recorded delivery within 14 days of giving your details to the loan centre.net.
2. Inform your bank/credit card company that you have given your card details to this company which is under investigation by the police and fraud watch.
3. Cancel your credit/debit card & order a replacement.
4. If you've had no luck from the loan centre after 30 days, go back to your bank/credit card company and complete a disputed transaction/debit card chargeback form/enquiry.
Don't take any nonsense from your bank or credit card company if they say its your reponsibility for giving details online! They are acting as the merchant and as long as you can show that you have followed the loan centre's cancellation policy and have had no response then they have an obligation to refund the money from this rogue company.
Hope this helps you guys.0 -

I have been battling with The Loan Centre since February 2011. I have spoken to Gareth (once) I've had inmumerable 'stock' email responses from Amy, but still they have not refunded my £74.95, taken within hours of me foolishly exiting the Application Page without, unchecking the payment box. I cancelled my card, and had the bank refund the fee, however, three months later, Visa, having received a letter from The Nostrum Group, fee collectors for The Loan Centre, debited my bank account for the full amount again.
I contacted The Nostrum Group (Cornwall Collection Services) they gave me a 'phone number for The Loan Centre. (Emails appear to have no effect, so they believe.)
After many attempts I actually spoke to a human (if that's what you can call a person who works fo a bunch of scam artists) Gareth.
He confirmed that 'yes I had emailed and cancelled my 'membership' within the required 14 days', and that he would email me the cancellation Refund Form. Which he did, within minutes.
(Gareth if you are reading this, be aware I recorded our conversation):rotfl:
He also stated that once they had received the completed form I would receive a cheque within a day or two.
Hey ho, at least they are consitent. no cheque.
Today I sent another email, and tried telephoning them. No answer, but that's the norm.
Gareth responded within two hours stating they had not received my completed claim form. Silly lad, I not only posted it, I emailed it as an attachment, with 'ping' on opening. Not only that he responded to the email that I had attached the Refund Form to!
Legally, if one can prove they have received the Claim Form, they don't have a leg to stand on, but then they wouldn't have anyway, snakes don't have legs.
Now an update on The Loan Centre's involment with The Nostrum Group. As at 14.05 todays date, I was informed by a representative of The Nostrum Group that 'they had severed all ties with The Laon Centre'.:j
If that is true, then they must know more about the double dealing that go on at 46 Alexandra Street, Southend-on-Sea than they wish to disclose to the General Public! What I could not confirm, was had The Nostrum Group severed all ties with Veritable Finanace, The Loan Centre's 'parent' company. That would be interesting.
If I do not receive my cheque by Tuesday, I will be making a formal complaint to the OFT, Essex Trading Standards, and The Boys in Blue.
I will also commence proceedings in my local County Court against both Veritable Finance and The Loan Centre.
Interestingly, Litigants in Person are permitted to charge just under £10 per hour for time spent in preparing court documents, and pursuing the debt. I've spent in excess of 12 hours. (Keep a note of the time you spend in pursuing these people, and all costs involved, telephone calls, postage ect; it all mounts up, and why should you be out of pocket just to get your own money back.)
One other point, a group of people with a legiimate reason to complain could make life difficult for The Loan Centre, if they suddenly appeared outside 46 Alexandra Street, Southend-on-Sea and demanded their money back, their and then. (Watchdog would like that, I have no doubt!)
C'est la vie, we go on, because if we don't people like Gareth, Amy and Tom, and the Directors of Veritable Finance will continue to 'rip off' hard working people who can ill afford The Loan Centre scam.Man Is The Only Animal That Blushes. Or Needs To!0
