    Yeah, moving is hard work. In a way, if bf gets this job, we'll probably have a move on hte cards in the next year, maybe even half a year. Not really looking forward to it, but kind of excited about bit of change again. With a baby (or being pregnant) it must be way harder though.

    Hi savingh.
    Not healed but getting better. I do think the physio exercises help, and I try not to do too much otherwise tho I did start Shred and used too heavy weights at first. Have to go down tho as it won't be helpful for my elbows.

    Hi CMD,

    Hope you're keeping well - I had baby Lucas on 30th Sept, he's absolutely gorgeous!

    Looks like you've some challenging decisions to make- I hope everything sorts itself out. Keep going with the debt payments, you'll get there.

    Huge congrats Jmf!!! That is amazing news - a little boy. I am delighted for you. How are you getting on with him? It gets much easier as time goes on, the first few weeks are very hectic - but precious too :)

    Hi SavingH,

    I'm still around and am okay. Just feeling a bit yuck at the moment as I feel we are in limbo and my job is coming to an end in the New Year so I am looking for jobs both here and Ireland and it is so hard to find any decent part-time ones :(

    Hope you are well

    hi cmd - I am well just a lot busier than I expected at work which is spilling into my home life at the mo - completely disorganisation everywhere.

    I have next week off but am a bit worried about the workload I will go back to but that's life..

    Debt repayment going slower than I wanted too.... keep being tempted which is not good!

  • Debt-busting going very very slowly. I am trying to concentrate on not adding to our debt and I think my aim of getting to under 10k by Xmas is defo not going to happen :(

    Myself and OH are having a bit of a problem deciding what to do for the best. Our main aim is to move to Ireland but the 3 jobs that have come up for him don't really look like they are going to happen. We have no way of knowing when a job will come up and we can't survive on his wages alone so time is running out for what we are going to. So while waiting for a job to come up in Ireland I have compiled a list of pros and cons for moving to Scotland vs staying in England. I am hoping someone can give an objective view on this.

    England Pros
    * Have made some really good 'mummy' friends and Max is involved in some really good groups
    * We live in a lovely area
    * Weather is milder

    England Cons
    * Rent is ridiculously expensive
    * Flat is not suitable when Max gets mobile so we will have to move anyway in the new year
    * Flights are quite expensive to fly home
    * Feel anxious about money about 80% of the time
    * Will take a long time to pay off debt

    Scotland Pros
    * Rent is way cheaper (taking about £200-300 per month)
    * Debt will be paid off quicker
    * Have friends/reliable babysitters
    * Would only have to do a 2 day week (if I get the job I saw)
    * Creche is cheaper
    * Way easier to get to the airport, less expensive and flights are cheaper to go home
    * OH can possibly be seconded into a team which will get him more experience

    Will add more as I think of it. Any thoughts would be great :)
    Scotland Cons
    * It is freezing (I am a wuss but I did experience 5 winters there)
    * Will have to start over again making mummy friends - will I be lonely on my own 3 days a week
    * Will have to research groups for Max
    * Another long haul move - feel tired thinking about it already

  • CMD, looking at this list objectively it seems obvious what you should do - do you know what I'm going to say?

    The only good things you can find about where you are now is the weather (yes it's freezing in Scotland, but the difference can't be more than a couple of degrees really?) and Max's baby groups/your mummy friends. I think once you've researched groups for him (and I think they're pretty well publicised aren't they?) you'll easily make new friends there. You also mention having (normal) friends in Scotland - does that mean you only have 'mummy' friends in England? I think it's important to keep your own friends as well as having the mums of Max's friends.

    I don't want to influence you in any way but you really seem to want to go for the move. How does your OH feel?
