I can understand your thinking there, I was in the same position recently with savings and debts and we all know what we're SUPPOSED to do but it's so easy to build debt back up which has been paid off ... not so easy to break into savings.

And thanks :D I am really excited!!

Yeah, I can understand wanting to use it for something else than debts. Last year I was so focused on clearing the debt I wanted to use all b'day and xmas money for debt but then realised I should really buy something I needed for myself. Debt can't be all your life (not long term anyway).

Agreed - any bonus OH has gotten we have used to pay off the debts but somehow the debt has built up again. Maybe we need to pay it off the hard way and use any windfalls to build up some savings.

I would have thought given how much it seems to be stressing you out you'd feel better if you could clear another debt, or take it under another milestone.

Saw your house this morning Tete, I waved :D

Its true and it seems to have been part of my life for so long. I think we need to change how we spend (myself and OH) and stop looking for the quick fix all the time.

I see where you are coming from Dinah but we have used savings and windfalls for the last few years to clear some of the debts and it just seems to creep back up to the same level.

I actually feel less stressed knowing that we have some money in savings. I know it probably sounds a bit mad but I need to try another tactic.

Ah were you in town? Isn't it cuuute??

CMD, if the relocation money will be enough to pay off one whole debt then I am inclined to agree with Dinah - as you can then cancel that card and won't be able to build it up again ... but if not I do think it's worth putting away just in case... Hey that store card will be gone soon! :D
