Haven't been on in ages. So we got OH's relocation money and have pai off most of my RBS card and I also got a refund from Virgin for interest they charged me on a 0% rate. The signature looks way better than it did last month! I would love to get under 10k by Xmas but I can't see that happening - but I will try my hardest to get as near as I can.
OH has been approached about 2 jobs in Ireland but they seem to have come to nothing. I have applied for a job in England and it is home-based so at least no travel costs but the childcare looks to be horrendous £57 per day for a creche and £4 an hour for a childminder. Am thinking the childminder sounds like a way better option but I need to look into this further.
Scotland has been put off for a while so we can see if anything in Ireland comes up. If I don't get this job we an survive financialy until February so we can make any bigger decisions in the new year.
I would love a crystal ball to see where I will be living in 6 months. Hopefully in Ireland as my younger sister (that married in June) is having a honeymoon baby and I want to be back for when it is bornTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I hope everything works out for you CMD. It would be lovely if you could get back to Ireland as it seems to be where you really want to be. Congrats for you sister!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

Thanks Tirlittan
Yeah, I really want to bring Max up there, despite the financial state the country is in!, but it means a lot to me to be near family and have that support. If OH got a job over there we would be way better off financially and we could afford to rent a house for what we are paying for an apartment here. We would also be hopefully able to buy a house within a year.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Myself and OH were talking last night about our options. I am still confused about it all.
On paper - a move to Scotland would save us the most money but it is a big upheavel and then what happens if OH got offered a job in Ireland in 6 months time? Another move???
I have applied for a job (home-based) but would need to be based where I am now. In a way I think this job will help us to make the decision because if I don't get it we can't afford to stay where we are because most of the other jobs involve commuting to London which would cost 4k and between that and childcare costs it wouldn't be worth working. I am also not willing to go to full-time as I want to enjoy spending time with Max so a 3 day working week with a 4 day Max week sounds perfect to meTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I think you just have to wait what comes of this job you've applied for. And if it doesn't work then move to Scotland might be the right option. I know moving is a pain but if it gets you closer to where you want to be...And even if you'd move to Ireland after 6months...surely that would be just a good thing? ANd you don't know exactly what's going to happen so you need to make the right decision for now as well and not just for what you want to happen in future.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

Its true. In a way I just hope we get to stay here until we move to Ireland as we have moved flats 4 times in the last 3 years, and twice when I was pregnant (from Scotland to Sussex and Sussex to Berkshire. It does begin to take its toll....Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
