I am pleased you got it sorted. My son has had 2 laptops from Dell and even helped a friend of his to buy one as he's partially sighted and never had any problems at all.

It seems its luck of the draw.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

Pleased you have got your refund. What a nightmare it's been, but it's finished now.

    Glad it's sorted.

I'm sad also, as I've been enjoying reading this thread, particularly about the cheek of the conning neighbours and it will now just disappear into the graveyard of threads.

    fozmcfc,

Looking back at the crazy neighbours and their blatant lies is laughable now - however it wasn't at the time! LOL!

Their sheer stupidity is beyond me! They have vivid imaginations - you gotta give them that with their "creative" stories riddled with lies!

    Thanks crabyducky,

I've been ranting about this situation to anyone who will listen for the past couple of weeks. I'm sure all my friends/family will be glad its finally over - lol.

Several mates have moaned about Dell's laptops having inferior batteries. They all had to replace them within a year.

Just think on the plus point. They have saved you the hassle of owning a dell computer and then having to return it in a few months when it breaks down.

They have done you a favour

Had mine 6 years and had it repaired once when i had a very bad virus on it.
They are a pain on delivery though. I would and will shortly buy another Dell

I've had a very good experience with Dell, but I know someone who had bad problems.

I ordered a 24" widescreen TFT monitor from them, when they were still very expensive items to buy. Ordered and delivered without any issue and they even called to say it would be delivered earlier than orginally said.

My friends family, got a Dell PC though and had no end of problems with it and spent a good £12 - £15 on phonecalls trying to sort it out. Eventually they accepted the fault and replaced the PC.

So I guess some of us are lucky, some aren't. I basically stop using a company if they let me down very badly once or if I have 2 or 3 smaller issues with them and there are decent alternatives available.
