Well said madget!
I could have forgiven the mis-delivery incident if only their customer care representatives had dealt with it professionally.

If they had been more proactive in dealing with my complaint and returned calls when they said they would then I wouldn't be on here venting.
They have certainly lost my custom and I shall be telling all my family/friends to avoid them!
Seems fair enough - I would do the same.
Looking forward to the next instalment.......0 -
Dell should sort this out properly. It was a mistake not to. But the original problem was caused by some people trying to steal. They are thieves. I have seen this sort of thing before; people will try to get away with anything. Please report them to the police. I don't think it is likely but I hope they go to prison.0

CapJ,
I fully intended to report them - however they then 'came clean' (albeit with an absurd story riddled with lies). As a result of their 'story' I figured the police wouldn't take any interest."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" You are probably right but I you can hope. I really hate these sort of people. They are common thieves to me. Just one thing though, be careful if you do report them see if you can blame it on Dell.... only they know where you live...0 -
Thanks for reply CapJ.
I'm leaving DELL to deal with them - if they wish to proceed with fraud angle then thats up to them. I am very angry with the Ryans - there is no doubt in my mind that they fully intended to steal the laptop. If I hadn't discovered they had it (through some online investigating on 192.com) then no doubt I'd be currently involved in a dispute with DELL who would have claimed that I had in fact received it.
However, I doubt DELL will pursue the issue with the Ryans since they are incapable of more basic tasks (like dealing with the issue and returning phone calls)."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" I do believe they are!
They were rather abrupt and rude with me on Wednesday night (I was super polite I might add!) however the minute I mentioned having evidence of it being signed for by them and pursuing it further I saw a distinct flash of fear in their eyes!
They came up with a ridiculous story which I shall recount here for your entertainment:
"Our daughter no longer lives with us but sometimes gets things delivered here. When the laptop arrived we presumed it was hers as hers is broken and she was getting a new one. We took it over to her house and left it there but shes since gone on holiday. She's in Egypt for 2 weeks so we can't get it. We do have a key for her house but we don't know her alarm code. We've been trying to contact her hotel but have been unable to get in touch for her."
To me this story has a number of failings:
1. Why did they not tell me they received a laptop for their daughter when I asked them about a laptop delivery on Wednesday night?
2. A bit too much of a coincidence for my liking - their daughter happens to be expecting a brand new laptop from DELL around the same time as me?
3. Neither Mr or Mrs Ryan, or their daughter noticed that it was my name (which is very unusual surname as Japanese) all over the box (DELL themselves have commented on this - saying they don't believe that at all since its written in several places).
4. Their daughter just so happens to be away around same time?
5. Their daughter would go on holiday, leave them a key but not the house alarm code?
Highly suspicious if you ask me!
Mr Ryans seemed concerned when I refused to accept the laptop this morning. Claimed, "It's just been a genuine mistake" - yeah right!
How did they manage to put the laptop in the house without the alarm code?Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

They received the laptop a couple of days before I went knocking on their door looking for it.
They then took it to their daughters house (who was home) and never noticed my name all over it.
The day I went looking for it - she had suddenly gone on holiday.
Load of tripe if you ask me - but thats their 'story'."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
Aaarrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhh!
Logged into my online banking and surprise surprise my refund was not there.
Called DELL (for the SIXTH time I might add) and was told I would get my refund on 27th!
Asked to speak to a manager who actually agreed with me that the situation was unacceptable. She stated that she will investigate personally and will call me back tomorrow with regards to advising if she can get my refund processed quicker.
I stated that if a) she doesn't call back or b) she does but I'm not satisfied then I'm reporting the issue to trading standards."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
Good on ya for telling her you will report it to Trading Standards.Hope you get your refund quickly. As for the Ryans, dispicable people.0
