I've put in an offer for the house, applied for the Mortgage and the valuation has come back saying we need to get 2 things looked into so I'm just waiting for a buildings surveyor to get back to me and if the work needs doing I have to get some quotes and send it off.. Was hoping for a quick completion but doesn't look like thats going to happen0

Northern Rock want 3 months payslips plus P60 each but no bank statements. Luckily I found it filed in the wrong place but too late to make the post on thursday. Did not find it till Sat. Now transpires that the passports that OH faxed across did not arrive so have had a huge panic to get those over just now as otherwise this whole thing will just drag and drag.....There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0

Broker seemed as though the lender wants to get the Survey done ASAP.. which seems great as at least theyre not dragging their heels.

Had an offer accepted about 2 months ago, homebuyers report and mortgage approved while waiting for the vendors to find their retirement flat by the sea only for them to deceide that they didn't want to sell their house after all. So after a couple of weeks of looking again I am waiting to hear back from an EA today whether or not my final £175K offer on another house has been accepted. This one is chain free so I am looking to complete as soon as possibile (baby due on Christmas Eve).
This house is better than the first one, where the vendors pulled out, which often seems the way reading posts on this newsgroup. So although I wasted £500 on homebuyers report I hopefully will end up with a better house0 -

That is scary.... we've just forked out for the Homebuyers report & I'm so frightened of that happening....0 -
We had our offer accepted 1st August
Survey done by 15th August
Mortgage offer 19th August
Search results back 31st August
Signed contract 5th September
Exchanged contracts 8th September
We move in 18th September!
That's 7 weeks in total. It's all been reasonably straighforward, with some stress around exchange day when it suddenly transpired that there was a chain when we had been told all along that there wasn't. all worked itself out fine though.
Can't wait to move in now!!!

Wow!
So did you get your survey done separately to your mortgage? My broker advised me to get it done at the same time as the valuation.
I'm starting to worry now that things should be moving quicker than they are.
Still not heard from the mortgage company but my solicitors seem to be ready and waiting, I just don't want them to do anything until I know what's happening with the mortgage.
What should I be doing now???!!!0 -
