Anyone else just started the "Buying a House" Process?

Things have moved rapidly for us.
We already had the offer accepted on the property we're looking to buy. This happened last Thursday.
Our house went on the market that same day (we werent expecting to find a property we loved so quickly!). We've had several viewings, one having a second viewing today. She made an offer, which we accepted.
So, we now have a cash buyer for our property (she's living with relatives). The property we are buying has a simple chain - the vendors are buying a house from someone who has already bought a business, and will be living at that business.... A 4 person, 2 house chain.
Fingers crossed!0 -
Good luck weggy.
lucy, Normally fairly standard, covering their !!!!!! speak! But if concerned speak to the surveyor in person.Pawpurrs x0 -
Well, things have came to a sudden stop due to the solicitors and the estate egents seeming as though theyre unwilling to do anything unless they are pestered.
Im on the phone to them literally EVERY day to push them. What am I paying them for dammit0 -
WooooHoooooo
The survey is taking place today. FINALLY !!!!!.
Doubt we will get to hear anything about it until Thursday, but am so pleased that it is happening.0 -
The timescales all puzzle me too.
As I said yesterday, we're in a small chain involving 4 people, and just 2 houses - with a cash buyer lined up to buy our property. Even though it's small, we still have an estimated move date of 2 months away! What could possibly take 2 months to sort out from here?!?!0 -
we are ftb and had an offer accepted at the beginning of August. the house we are buying is empty so no chain. the lender (Northern Rock) says the survey has been done but we haven't heard anything yet.
We keep being pestered by the vendor's estate agent. Is this supposed to happen? they asked me this morning if i had a mortgage arranged for the property. Our mortgage broker faxed them something to say we were mortgage approved when we put the offer in and since then they have repeatedly phoned us to ask if we have arranged a mortgageThey have been a pain since before we even viewed the house (we were mortgage approved before we started looking at houses and they wanted us to see their advisor) and when we put an offer in the broker had to remind them that they were breaking the law by not putting our offer to the vendors. They wanted us to go in and see their advisor first:mad:
I spoke to the solicitor this morning and it turns out they know the mortgage offer is on its way and the searches due in but they have had no documentation from the vendor's solicitors. This is so stressfull and we are buying an empty house. the vendors don't live there so only us moving. I don't know how people cope buying and selling in a chain - I am never going through this again so if we ever do move in we are NEVER moving OUT.
hopefully the hassle we are experiencing now will be worth it but I just wish their EA would leave us alone.
Good luck to everyone else on here going through the moving process too:)0 -
poor you ratcrazy, it is a stressfull time. The Ea is just doing his job, they are supposed to chase the sale, but there are ways and ways.Pawpurrs x0

Ratcrazy we have had a simular problem to you, the estate agent of our vendor have been chasing me because our conveyencer is "too busy" to deal with them, and what was holding everything up was the draft contracts hadn't receached our conveyencer yet (have now but not the point) when I pointed this out they soon calmed down!
I've just had another fit at the estate agent telling them I will update them as and when I get updates from the conveyencer, and that any correspondance we have to respond to we do the same day and personally take it into the conveyencer's office (to save on postage and time) if everyone did the same everyone move faster!
He then apolgised and was actually quite friendly. Once we have moved I AM NEVER MOVING AGAIN (even though our chain could be ALOT worse, we have a FTB buying our flat and we are buying a converted bungalow with no onward chain)House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.
Hang in there everyone it is worth it0 -
Hi Ratcrazy
Seems that we (too) are in a similar position as you. See our signature re similar timeline.
However, let me tell you where we are at this point.
Survey was done on property yesterday. We hope to get our copy in tomorrows post, but if not, I'll call the surveyor on Friday to see situation (Thursday is going to be a killer day so am writing it off now).
Obviously BS are waiting for same survey and then mortgage offer should be forthcoming.
As at mid last week we have received nothing from our solicitors from the vendor. However, we did get copy of deeds, info sheets etc last week but I was annoyed to see that the vendors had signed these on the 21.8 (and it took 3 weeks to get to us ???) So in response to your query about having nothing from your vendors solicitors I would counter this back to the EA every time they chase you (perhaps the vendor's solicitor is holding things up). Isn't it much better to have two way traffic instead.
Also perhaps ask your broker to do another letter confirming submission / survey done and that the mortgage offer is imminent (sp?).
Wish I could help more, but just know that you are experiencing many of the delays that many of us are and unfortunately we are not really in positions to get this sorted, we just have to wait for the mechanics to iron the stuff out.
Bet everything that is outstanding for you will ALL materalise on one day and then you can start doing the chasing !!!!0 -
we got all our mortgage agreed today told we should have the paperwork on friday then we can get the solicitor going.
also had the valuation survey done and that was good.
now just have to see where what we do next. looking like 4-5weeks to completion though.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0
