Are all your searches in ? Has you solicitor got any queries that he has raised with vendor's solicitor ? I ask these because this is our position with solicitor at present.
Best speak to your sol, so you know where you are0 -
All exchanged now.
Completion date works out at 3 months, 3 weeks since I made the offer.
I wish I'd thought of mentioning it on here before. I think this thread has magic powers now.0 -
izoomzoom.. when I spoke to her this afternoon she confirmed one of the searches was in and she was waiting for one more (didn't have planning, environment and water) .. she also mentioned the contract off the solicitor and mortgage offer had also arrived this mornng and that she'd write to me in a few days time... wouldn't give much info further than that (prob thought I was being over anchious being a FTB ;-))
Well.. so far it's all gone like clockwork, hoping the rest goes this well..0 -
Wow it seems you are moving really fast.
I have really no idea where we are with the solicitor side of things. We received a pile of documents including the lease document and land registery and information packs from the vendor and the solicitor said in their covering letter that they had raised numerous additional enquirires and they will be in touch.....
The local and water searches aren't yet in either.
And we are still waiting for the homebuyers survey and obviously our mortgage offer so I do not feel in a position to chase the solicitor yet.
The way you are talking, you might have exchanged by the end of the week ????0 -
Everyone seems to be moving far faster than we are!
Our mortgage offer hasn't come though yet, I've heard nothing about the valuation and Homebuyers Report.
I haven't instructed our solicitor to do any searches yet as I wanted to get the basics of the mortgage through first.
I don't really mind the time scale of things but I hate not knowing where we're up to and when I chase I'm just told that no news is good news and everything is moving along nicely.0 -
Mortgage side of things have been execellent.. full application made on a thursday at 4:00pm and the valuation & Homesbuyers report done on the monday !.. btw I went with Nationwide.
I'll be ecstatic if the contract was to arrived say Wed/Thurs and it was all pretty straight forward.. leaving only the insurance and banker's draft to arange ;-)0 -

I went with them too for the reason that apparently they are renowned for being quick (- but when I spoke to a couple of friends that work there they laughed at me!)
However, the survey has been done within a couple of days of the application. Again - fingers crossed.
The vendor wants to complete in 3 weeks (from offer). Well I'm keeping up my side of the bargain!!!0 -
I too am buying a house! Im a FTB and hope to get things through as fast as possible! :j

Woo hoo! Today we finally got our Homebuyer's report back after thinking that everyone had forgotten about us!!
Everything looks pretty standard.
My question is....
It has in the summary 'areas requiring further investigation' and says that we should get the electrics and gas installation checked by the relevent people. Is this just standard to cover themselves or do we really need to get things checked before we agree contracts?
I don't mind getting it done it's just that we haven't got too much spare cash floating about so if it's just a standard statement then I'll worry about it once we're actually in the property.0
