I didn't say you were not profitable.
Your £15x24 months is £360 which first and foremost has to cover the cost of the handset, but lets pretend it doesn't for a minute. They make the majority of their profits when people go over allowances (like you did). You currently pay £15/month for 300 minutes and 300 texts - lets call that 600 units - that is 2.5p per unit EXCLUDING your unlimited Internet access and coving the cost of your handset.
Your tariff charges 30p per minute for minutes outside of your allowance - that is a HUGE difference from 2.5p of your inclusive units - over ten times more.
My point is, if you stay within your limits each month, you are nowhere near as profitable as someone who goes over their inclusive allowance - and they will do little to retain your custom, as many people find out at upgrade time after their minimum period has elapsed.0 -
It's not exactly fine print on your contract, is it? It's not the sort of stuff they change - it's even in the title of most contracts.. It's like arguing that your mortgage rate is too high when the base rate drops...
I rarely use more than 300 mins a month, but i have a 600 min contract. This is on purpose.. on the rare occurrence that i do make a lot more calls than normal I don't get a surprise bill.
How do you make 6 hours more calls than normal and not make a mental note that you're using your phone more than normal?0 -
Is there no insurance scheme that you can join for protection about unauthorised calls? Perhaps your phone got unlocked in your pocket and then you didn't realise it called the first person in your phonebook. That has happened to me on my pay as you go and i've lost 10 quid just like that, just wondering if I had a contract at the time the bill could have rung up a huge bill.0

So over the next 17 months T-Mobile are going to get plenty on money out of me. In addition to all of that I introduced my wife and mother to T-Mobile as contract customers and my kids are PAYG customers, so they are getting around £80 per month from us. Over the course of my contract T-mobile will get nearly £2000 from the 5 of us, yet we are likely to underuse our contracts by maybe 30-40% and they cant see fit to reward a little loyalty with £70.
Your wife and kids are nothing to do with your contract and loyalty is rewarded individually at the end of the contract when you upgrade.0 -
Just pay the bill.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

get a grip
the whole point is you take a contract that fulfills your requirements
if you dont then you pay for going over your contracted quota
you are very lucky to get any reduction on the bill0 -
Wow, there are a few snobbish comments in this thread (particularly the last one). The OP made a genuine mistake and has been punished rather heavily for it. I can understand them feeling rather aggrieved by this. And I'm sure they aren't the first person to have been caught out this way.
I haven't been on this forum for a while, but it used to be quite a friendly place where people might have a degree of sympathy for someone like the OP, who has been screwed over to some extent by T-Mobile's rather arrogant and deceptive pricing. (I say deceptive, because they advertise their contract rates very clearly while the actual call charges are pretty much tucked away - I actually had to download a PDF to read them).
I'm not saying the OP shouldn't have to pay their bill - and I'm actually rather impressed that T-Mobile offered such a large discount - but I still think it's not OK that this is how this company makes their money (and I'm sure it happens a lot, and quite often to people who don't have the financial know-how to avoid it).
Yes, T-Mobile are a business and they exist to make a profit, but there are more ethical ways to do it than this. They should be actively promoting themselves as a company that looks after their customers. Many people would be more inclined to do business with such a company, even if their prices were higher than their competitors.0
