Thanks for this. I will print this out and try to phone Bookable tomorrow, again. I have managed to speak to Sam a few times there. Our flight with Goldtrail, seemingly, although nothing shown on our invoice. I have requested this by email twice and awaiting reponse, though I did have a missed call from them today, when I was at my work, but tried to call them back a couple of times today and for an hour and a half tonight, but never got through. They have offered us full refund of holiday, less admin fee or can try and get alternative flights. They only had flights on a different date of departure or if going on our original date, 1/8, would fly from Glasgow and back to Newcastle. I asked if I managed to get alternative flight myself, would this be ok, they confirmed this is fine and we can then claim back the cost of the original flight. Will still cost us more money, but seems the best option. Also spoke with CAA a couple of times who advised best advice would be to try and get to our accomoadtion as Bookable did not book our accomodation in Olu Deniz with Goldtrail.
For those of you who don't know yet, Holidays4U have put on more flights. I got two returns from Glasgow to Dalaman on 1/8 for £620, or thereabouts. Original flights were £488 (only booked a week ago), so we will loose the difference in price.

Please don't faint (cue drum roll.....), I have heard from Bookable Holidays. I couldn't hear properly as I was in a very busy high street at the time, but the gist of it is that we are due to go at the begining of August but Bookable said they could not find availability on any flights. I dont know if this is true but as we rebooked ourselves on a flight BH will send us a claim form (they are not sure what type of claim form or who it is from - which is a bit bizarre) and we can claim the original cost of the flights. If we had not booked more flights we could have claimed the entire holiday back - at least that is how I understood it.
As I was in a noisy location at the time of the call I forgot to ask about any Admin fee and wasn't told about any - so presume its only for those with transfers or hotels to cancel as I have not booked transfers with them and am keeping the hotel.
Have to say the girl who phoned was very good on the phone and you couldnt be angry with her if you tried. I wonder if she is left to deal with all these calls on her own?!
The bad news is we have to bear the extra cost of rebooking flights less than 2 weeks before we fly - which is painful but we did not have to make that decision.0 -

Glad you heard from them in the end. Seems that, while information from them hasn't been great for those waiting, they are doing things right. Everything they seem to have told you is correct - just be interesting to see whether this "admin fee" crops up in your case. I don't think they can apply it for a pure ATOL flight refund, I suspect it is in repect to those cancelling hotels/transfers.0 -
My hols to Turkey are booked with Bookable Holidays w/c 6th Sept. No mention of Goldtrail on the invoice but I do know the flight was with them. No response to my emails and when I finally got through on phone was told I had to wait for my call back.
As per Consumer Advice Line via Govt Direct - if Bookable Holidays are unable to fulfull the contract then I am entitled to full refund - NO ADMIN FEE should be paid.0 -
Anyone know yet how much this Admin Fee is that Bookable Holidays are trying to retain??0

It depends who your contracts are with though. I suspect that Bookable have acted as an agent and your contract is with the individual providers, Goldtrail for the flights, and someone else for the hotel.
The hotel provider, and bookable are probably still in a position to provide the hotel and any transfers you booked.
The admin fee does not seem to be for the flight ATOL claim, but in respect to cancelling booked hotels.0 -
If there was no mention on an invoice of Goldtrail, as supplier of the flights, there is no contract with them and your claim for a full refund or alternative holiday with no admin costs is against the company you paid, not the ATOL scheme. There is news this evening that the owner of Goldtrail may have left the country and is in the Ukraine so possibly suggesting he may not want to be around when the administrators declare the reason for the failure.
The administrators have also realised their mistake about telling agents who had not paid Goldtrail to simply give the money back to customers and have changed the advice on the website for travel agents. Some agents acted quickly and have already refunded, if your agent didn't act quickly enough it is now too late and you will have to make a claim in the usual way0 -
Hi Alan,
Can I just ask where they have changed their info? I saw that that part of the message has disappeared and phoned Begbies-Traynor at 5pm or so today to clarify and they said the advice to return the money to the customer still stands?
Have I missed something?
Thanks very much.

The administrators have changed the statement and advice now although it remains unclear.
It is unusuaul for them to have given the original adviceo f refund if not passed on, and not the norm.
The current message says moneys held by travel agents for that have taken place succesfully. Thats open to a few interpretations so once CAA offices are open on Monday, there may be further advice issued.0 -

Thanks. As far as I remember though, the message was exactly the same before, but had an extra bit on underneath that regarding forward bookings, which has now been removed. As soon as I noticed it had been removed I called Begbies-Traynor (5pmish yesterday) to check and they said the advice remains the same and that for forward bookings where the money has not yet been paid to Goldtrail, Travel Agents should not forward the money to them, but should refund the customer. I spoke to the CAA yesterday too who also confirmed it.
I'll call them both again on Monday so I can continue my negotiations with Hays-hope the advice remains then too!
