ABTA Bonding has nothing whatsoever to do with whether Bookable Holidays has protected you against the failure of Goldtrail. Did they give you a policy of insurance or mention it on their documentation? No one should assume ABTA provides financial protection to consumers for holidays involving air travel, it is usually the CAA ATOL Scheme and that is dependent on you having recieved from Bookable a copy of the invoice issued by Goldtrail. If you haven't, then it is up to Bookable to re arrange everything at no additional cost to you since they will be the company with whom you have a contract0

Day 5 in the Ponkle22 household and still no communication from Bookable Holidays - whatsoever....

When were you meant to go? You should have heard something by now. Most people booked with Bookable Holidays seem to be given the option of cancelling with full refund minus admin fee or rebook your own flight or let them rebook your flight which you heve to pay for upfront them claim back via themselves through ATOL. Don't
know what else you can do unless your insurance covers it or you want to try for section 75 under credit card payments or visa debit card chargeback scheme. I don't have any other ideas but other members could have.0 -
Very beginning of August. I thought from the posts above they were still on the bookings who were meant to leave in July yesterday. Maybe I am mistaken.
Course it doesnt matter a thing that they have had my money since January and booking then meant we had cheaper flights.....0 -
I wonder if anyone can offer me some advise.
I booked with a travel agent a flight own for 13 people at 3800gpb on saturday after I heard of the collapse I got straight on the phone and booked 13 seats on another flight at a cost of 4260gpb which i put on my credit card ( current apr 16.9%). Now, the good news we are all going on holiday, the bad - after trawling all the threads it looks like I could be a good few months before I can get the 3800gbp back fron ATOL.
There are 3 other families involved and all have agreed to pay the extra for the new flights + any interest BUT.... what is the best way to minimise the interest?
I have an ISA that i could cash to cover the 4260 - then possibly ask each family for a cut of what interest i will lose, or I thought about getting a 0% interest credit card and transferring the balance andasking each family to cut the fee for transfer and the monthly repayments ---what do you think is the best option? or does anyone have any other scenarios that can minimise the cost until we can get the refund?
Many Thanks

Potentially good news for customers who have booked a Goldtrail element or package, who have not yet departed.
If you have booked via a travel agent, probably recently or to depart some time after the end of August, there is a chance of refund without claiming it all from the CAA ATOL scheme.
The administrators for Goldtrail announced that if the travel agent is still holding the money, then it may be refunded to the customers.
SO if you have booked through a travel agent, contact them and ask if they have paid the money to Goldtrail, as if they have not, they ought to be able to refund you this.
Now the difficult bit - its being queried as this is by no means normal practice, and if they have paid the money over to Goldtrail, you will still need to claim via CAA. This may be the full amount, or it may just be the deposit (with the balance from the agent refunded if not paid over to GT).
Although be warned, some agents are totally unaware of this and may argue its incorrect, just refer them to the Goldtrail website where the administrators message is displayed.0 -
Yes, this is very good news for last minute bookings, say within 7 days of the failure. I have never seen administrators do this before because legally if a holiday has been confirmed the money is due to the administrators but they have said so on the goldtrail website, so ask the agent for your money back0

Just wanted to check... Lowcostholidays have stated to me that they will refund the cost of the entire holiday if necessary, booked on-line including transfers and accommodation. Does anyone know if this is actually true? Just want to make sure I'll be getting the right part of my package back- ie flights and transfers. Will the CAA cover transfers too, or just the flights? And if not, who does?
Thanks!
Hi Mark,
We are sorry you had problems with your holiday and assure you we do not have a random hang up policy. We are experiencing a very high level of calls, as I am sure you can understand, and our technology is having trouble coping. We are doing our best to rectify the situation.
If you write to us asking for a refund, we will send your claim as soon as we get it. We will be able to give you a 100% refund, if that is what you prefer.
We are sorry for any inconvenience you have been caused.

our accommodation is booked through lowcostholidays, we paid in full for this, i've looked at my booking and my invoice, and nowhere does it say who they have booked my accommodation with.
could there be a chance it is goldtrail
i hope all of you people get your holidays/flights sorted out, i've been in that position, and it's not nice.
Hi Saint_Chris,
If you send me your reference number by direct message I will check if your accommodation was booked through Gold Trail and advise what you should do next.
