Don't be alarmed if it goes a yellowish sort of colour once frozen, it will return to normal once de frosted! I think the colour change is something tot do with the fat in it, I'm sure someone will come along shortly and explain it properly.:starmod:Cosmopolitan:starmod:0

When I was in my teens, there was a budget supermarket in Leeds called Hobson's choice. They used to sell pints of milk in bags (like the ones you see now that are designed to go in jugs to save packaging). The bags had freezing instructions on them. We always had a couple in the freezer.
Thank you! no one I tell about these remembers them and they all think I have gone mad0 -
I have 4 x 6 pints of milk (semi-skimmed) sitting in my fridge and i was just wondering if they could be put in a freezer, I brought them on tuesday as per normal weekly shop, But my mum was rushed into hospital on tuesday and now i have lots of milk i am not going to use shame to waste it,0

yes i freeze ours all the time, the 4 pint milk cartons, then defrost as needed but you need to shake the milk like mad after it defrosts x:A :j0

Yes, I buy all our milk once a week and freeze it. It takes a while to defrost but seems to be just as good and last as per normal once defrosted. Very useful for keeping an emergency pint or two."doing the best you enjoy, not the best you can tolerate, is truly the best you can do sustainably."0

Yes freeze it. We leave it sitting in a sink of warm water to defrost it quickly. You can't tell the difference, although it does start to look a bit ugly once you defrost it, once it's al defrosted it's perfectly fine.
Sorry to hear about your Mum.0 -
Hi brogusblue,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the existing one where you'll find lots of advice about freezing milk.

I do not drink milk at all so used to freeze it in an ice cube tray and them pack into a plastic box for when people came round. The small cubes worked really well and defrosted quickly.Eating Out of the Storecupboards Challenge.

I just normally freeze mine in the carton it comes in but can't see splitting it being a problem. Maybe a small tupperware box, anything that will hold it and is food/freezer safe really.0
