Freezing Milk

Yesterday I bought 8 pints of milk that was reduced by loads at Tesco, still with 2 days left on sell-by date. I immediately froze it when I got home. It is full-fat organic, and it has gone a yellow colour in the freezer when I went to get something out just now.
Is this normal?0 -
Its just the fat seperating from the milk and water in it.
Don't worry about that, but Tescos are known for naff containers, don't be surprised if the container leaks/splits when defrosting!!!0 -
i've frozen milk before and its never the same after its defrosted, sort of seperates0

Skimmed milk and semi skimmed milk is fine especially when made into milk puddings, rice etc.To Dare is To Do:beer:0

I started freezing milk after reading about it on this board. I always pour a bit out of the top of the container first to give it some 'headroom' as it expands a bit when it freezes, and have never had any problems with the container splitting. It always goes yellow when it freezes but goes back to white again as it thaws. I do it all the time and it saves me a mid-week trip to the shops - I can't tell the difference once it has thawed, but having said that I only use semi so I haven't tried freezing full fat milk.0

it does go a funny colour ( well mine always does) dont worry just shake gently to mix it when defrosted.0

I agree that it's never as good as fresh after it's been frozen but if you give it a good shake it should be ok. I only drink semi-skimmed though, so that may make a difference.
