Freezing Milk

I can't see any problems - I would freeze one tray of milk and as soon as it is frozen solid, knock them out and put in a bag/sealed container. After all, I freeze chopped fruit and veg 'open' and then put ina bag, with no ill effects.
Try it and see - and let us know0 -
If it is just for tea and coffee. I would use whitener stuff and keep it well hidden e.g in your bedroom.
That way there is no milk. Even if means I have to stop have cereal in the morning and go to toast.
I would because I like to prove a point. And if it has to be hammered home like that I will.
After a fews days they will go wheres the milk. And I would say you drank the last of it and I am not going to replace it. If you want milk you go out and get it.
I had to this with washing powder when I bought a house with a so called friend. She would never go and buy anything washing powder, milk, bread etc. So washing powder I would hide in my room or take just enough down in a box to let me do some washing and a little bit more. But not enough for another wash. And when she was out I use to borrow chocolate and coffee etc. They never knew. And with the washing powder it saved my an arm and a leg.
I know mean. Good job I am not a mummy in real life. As I am sure my kids would hate me :rotfl:

I have done really well at tackling my food shopping and hardly throw anything away except for milk. I live on my own and don't drink that much tea / coffee at home and I know that small bottles of milk are cheap but I keep throwing half used bottles away, so can I buy one bottle , keep last weeks empty bottle divide the new one in to two, freeze one and keep one open. Then defrost as required.
If yes, how long does milk take to defrost, I generally use semi skimmed.
Thanks

We freeze all our milk every week and it is fine. It does say on the bottles that it is okay to freeze.
It does take a few hours to defrost, depending on how much milk is in the bottle. You can speed it up by standing it in cold water though. Overnight is probably the best. It should be ready by morning if you do that.0 -
I live on my own too (boyf stays a bit) and this is exactly what I do. I buy some milk and then freeze some of it. When I know that I will need it, take it out the evening before I'll need it, pop it in the fridge and it defrosts by the morning and just use it then. I used to throw so much milk away before I did this! I just freeze a pint or so at a time.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

If you live on your own then I handy tip I learned some years ago is to freeze some of your milk into icecube trays for putting in your tea or coffee.
This way you can just pop out the amount of milk you need to have a hot drink. One or two is just the right amount of milk per cup, unless you really like your beverages milky, & take hardly anytime to defrost. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Dried skimmed milk is OK in hot drinks. It works out cheaper than fresh and you can make up as much as you need.It keeps forever in its dry form.
But, make sure you get the right stuff, some are designed for adding straight to drinks and are more expensive and have strange ingredients in them.

What a brilliant idea! I also live alone, and buy a two litre jug for 69p - it lasts about a week because I only use it on cereal (don't drink tea or coffee) or the odd time for cooking. By the end of the week it's starting to smell a bit, especially in the hot weather.
Now I can get some little half pint or pint containers, freeze the milk, and take it out to defrost the night before I need it - cool!Work to travel, don't travel to work!0
