Regarding photography - I wish I was local or I could help (done a couple), but I'm not.
You could contact an art college to see if there are any takers but I suspect it may be out of term now, or go to Flickr.com , look for a sheffield group and ask if anyone wants the practice. If you arrange for a couple to come then you should be sure to have at least one turn up... it would take the pressure off your relative, and (I am assuming) that they might be able to provide some better shots (they would have previous work to demonstrate and probably better equipment). I did a quick look for possible Sheffield-based groups and found the following, although there are many there.
