yes... and if you want something sparkly, why not get cava from tesco, its like 4.00! I swear it tastes just as good as the real stuff
the money you save from having to pay for all the food etc will mean you can treat yourself to bits and pieces for yourself. and im sure your granny and grandad will buy you a drink at the pub!

I stumbled across this thread when I was browsing 'new posts' and can't believe how kind and generous the people on the wedding board are. this is a total contrast to some of the other boards so well done ladies, fabulous efforts and OP hope you get the wedding of your dreams. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

That's great news! You can always renew your vows in a castle and have a party then!

I was thinking the same as Jellie as I was reading your post FG
I am off to see the woman I am getting my dress from in 3 weeks, if there is anything else you need I will see what she has and cost etc. She has everything and no use for it so is selling it discounted but I have no idea what things cost new so not sure whether it will be in budget0 -
I have a Next linen suit (I think 9-12 mnths poss fit 12-18 mnths) for your DS - If thats any help!
Well done, maybe a few drinks in the pub afterwards might be a nice idea. Or could you ask for help from family for the buffet? Ours were so helpful, we told one Aunt what we would like she organised the rest and told them what to make hubby did do some as he is a chef but took the strain off x x x xDFW Nerd #awaiting number - Proud to be dealing with my debts!

Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0

faerie_girl wrote: »Sorry to put a downer on things, just feeling a bit rubbish about our wedding. We have always wanted a low-key registry office wedding but we were meant to have a budget of £1000 which would have got us everything we wanted. OH didn't get a bonus he was expecting and then we were both meant to be working overtime to get extra money (we have nothing saved). My employer has stopped overtime to save money and my OH is refusing to do any because he doesn't like his job.
We get married in 6 weeks and all we have are our rings, my dress (which my mum bought from a catalog, doesn't fit me right and I don't really like), my shoes, a photographer (who is a friend so is doing it very cheap) and cutlery and plates for our buffet.
We still need to get OH's suit and shoes, bridesmaid dress, LO's outfit, flowers (I wanted artificial and the lady who I has seen on ebay has a 21 day turn over so time is ticking). Also need a gazebo for our garden party incase it rains or is really sunny, 2 garden tables and 8 chairs, food and drink.
I am doing my hair and makeup, also the buffet. We are getting married at 11.30am and I don't see how I am gonna do it all.
I had a text from a friend yesterday saying how it isn't long and I am going to be a beautiful bride. I don't feel like it. I feel like it is going to be a joke. There is too much to do. I get paid tomorrow and really wanted to order the flowers but we have to pay £100 to a loan (I only get paid £200). OH gets paid in a few weeks and is his last time before we get married ( he gets paid the day after our wedding).
We aren't getting any help from anyone. We are only inviting parents, grandparents, siblings and best man. I know they won't really care what it is like, they are just happy we are marrying. I am just worried what everyone else is going to think. I know it doesn't really matter. We want to get married and don't want to wait any longer so whatever will be will be now. I just feel we will look like idiots when people see our photos, when they see my dress which doesn't fit and my shoes that don't quite match the colour. When I don't have any flowers and my hair is a state because I didn't have time.
Sorry I don't know why I am posting this. We are carrying on regardless. We hope to do something special in maybe 5 years time, a big anniversary party for all our family where I can wear a dress that cost more than £45.
I am a bit upset with OH as he keeps saying it will be okay and things will be sorted in time. I just don't see how, he isn't willing to work over time for this. I tried selling some jewelry but only made £5. I am considering selling all LO's baby clothes that have been saved just to try and get me some flowers from ebay. He seems so laid back and doesn't see that thinks cost money.
I got married on the cheap over 30 years ago and I still think of it with happy memories ,you do not need to spend alot to have a lovely day and it is what comes after that is important .
We planned our wedding two weeks before the day ,we had no money I got my dress from a sale for a few pounds , my shoes were some I already owned , I had my witnesses and just close family to the registry office ,my ring was borrowed from a friend I still wear it she gave it as a gift afterwards ,I went in a camper van straight from work it was a Friday ,afterwards we went to the pub ,my mum did the food in my family home and it was lovely , after tea we went shopping for food ,we spent our honeymoon in a shared house with a very randy landlord entertaining his mistress in the next room .
The next day we went for a walk in the rain and watched a randy bull servicing his cows ,on the Sunday it was dinner at my mums and Monday back to work .
We lived off pilchards ,tinned tomatos ,and smash for two weeks after because we had no money till payday and I would not have changed a thing loved every second of it .0 -

Thank-you for your offer. A very kind member has offered to make me one! She has a few bits left over from hers and is going to get some extra bits for me... so kind.
I have also have someone helping me with a little suit for our Son.
And someone has offered me a dress as they are getting another one.
(not going to give too many details out as I am not sure if they want me to tell people their usernames etc)
I just want to say a HUGE thank-you for everyone that is helping/ has offered to help. I have never known generosity like it! I was feeling so despaired the other night but now I am feeling so happy that with the help of total strangers we are going to have such a perfect wedding.
Really there is only OH's suit to get now! I will definitely be having a look at Matalan. I have also seen some reasonably priced on the Asda website. How do I go about measuring chest size? Usually if OH is buying a jacket he just tries them on in the shop until he gets one that fits so I am not sure what size he is. We will most likely be getting his suit online so won't have chance to try it until it is delivered.
Once again thank-you for everyones help and support.
