I really feel for you, we are on a budget and like you, i'm panicking with 7 weeks to go that we are going to be able to get everything but OH keeps telling me not to worry!! - He should know by now that Worry is my middle name
Have some big /hugs and try not to panic too much, when you get to the day it will still be wonderful I'm sure
Do get yourself into BHS though, I was there yesterday and we got a complete bridesmaid outfit for my 9 yr old niece for £26.50. Dress was £15.99 (reduced from £40), shoes were £7.50 (reduced from £25) and tiara was £3 (reduced from £35). She looked beautiful too and no-one will know how little it cost....well apart from EVERYONE who reads this post :rotfl:
I have to rush to get to work right now but I will have a think today of other ideas.
Have a look round for anything to sell on Ebay too, I have about £140 in my paypal account just from selling stuff i don't want anymore. That money is just for buying all the "bitty" things we need for the day and anything left over will just transfer into the bank for a nice meal out.0 -
I have a size 12 BM dress going spare, if thats any help?:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Best of luck to you for the day, it will be much better than you are thinking cos you've got yourself so worried about it you are thinking the worst. I'm sorry I have nothing to offer for loan as I am only in the 'getting' stage for my big day, but I just wanted to come on and say how fabulous and generous the MSE brides are - Ive looked at other wedding forums and a lot are so me me me. Isn't it amazing that in such hard times, and on a website dedicated to saving expense what's more, there are so many wondereful people offering to advise/loan/give to help someone out with no thought for themselves .Fantastic!! Give yourselves a hug folks, youre brilliant!0

That's a lovely idea. It will look very chic and pretty. See if you can borrow pinking shears to cut out the triangles, stops them fraying and looks much more professional.
And I think, if your Nan helps you alter the dress, confide in her about your worries over the arrangements. Nans have years of common sense and experience to draw upon - I'll bet she can put your mind at rest and who knows, she might have some bright ideas of her own re; flowers & fiance's/bridemaid's outfit.
And, don't be afraid to ask here for things that would help out! People like to feel they've done a good turn, trust me!0 -

I cried a little and have told him I think he we should pospone it. I don't want to look back in few years or even months after and regret it. Looking at our photos and hating what it all looks like.
In tears now, I know it will be the right thing to do. OH has also just confessed he doesn't want to get wed in the registry office and never has. He wants to set a date sometime in the future and have a more special do in a posh hotel.
It's never gonna happen, getting married. I love him to bits. I was so looking forward to this. Oh well, theres always 2020.
Why not plan to get married on a date special to you? We're marrying on the anniversary of our engagement. Why not phone round and get prices for things that you actually want then you can have a better idea of what you need to save and how much needs putting away for it? Barclays has a regular saver account that has a pretty good interest rate
That's the account we both have as our wedding funds

Hi everyone, sorry for not replying sooner, been a very busy day.
Me and OH have discused things further and have decided to go ahead but we are cancelling the reception. I am going to let everyone know on Sunday (I am working tomorrow) and request that they do not give us gifts as we are not providing them with a reception. This is a huge weight of my shoulders as I was going to do everything myself and still had to source a big gezebo, extra tables, food, drink and decorations etc.
Neither of us want to wait to get married. It isn't going to be the 'perfect day' OH's choice would to be married in a castle. TBH I would be happy for it to be just me, OH and our son with two witnesses. Just wearing some every day clothes. This would upset our parents and Grandparents a lot though.
I am going to write a list of 'wants' and have a look at prices so we (especially OH) have a clear idea. I am also going to try and sell some bits of ebay to try and pay for some flowers, if not then we just shall not bother with them and I'll perhaps get a clutch bag instead.
A few of you have sent me PM's and I will reply to you shortly.
I want to thank everyone for their generosity, not only offering items but also advice and kind words.
Feel much better today. I think I was just having an hormonal stressy moment yesterday. Feel like I have messed everyone about on here, so I am sorry for that. x0 -
Great to hear you sounding so much more 'up', hope it all goes well x
ETA, You could just all go to a local pub, most pubs will be happy to host lots of people having a drink!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0
